Issues with SimBrief Flight Plans & Navigation

Hi,

I’m trying to use SimBrief to create flight plans, importing them into the EFB, and then sending them to ATC and Avionics.

This all works fine, I take off and enable the AP in NAV mode. I set my altitude as per the recommended alt in the SimBrief flight plan. Then enable VNAV too. My TBM 850 then seems to follow the planned course for most of the waypoints, but when I get close to the destination airport it seems to get lost and sends me off on a straight course away from the airport.

A couple of examples I’ve done are KONT (Ontario) to KSAN (San Diego), and EGHH (Bournemouth) to EGLL (Heathrow). Both times the autopilot gets me close to the destination airport and then seems to give up.

I’m not sure if this is a VFR/IFR issue, or because I’d need to use APR mode (which I’m not familiar with) to take me all the way to the final approach? I just want to be able to take off, enable NAV mode, get up to cruising altitude, enable VNAV, and have the AP take me to the approach, including handling most of the descent when I reach the TOD marker.

I’m creating the SImBrief flight plans as VFR, in case that matters. Appreciate any help as to what I’m missing / doing wrong.

thanks

Danny

Ok, VNav is not a VFR procedure, so yes you should use IFR.
The next thing to be aware of is not to have discontinuities or manual sequences in the plan.
Make sure it is waypoint followed by waypoint.

When using an ILS, you must have the beacon frequency in the Nav1 radio, and the runway course in the display.
Then shortly before intercepting the ILS select APR.
This will take practice!

And the destination airport altitude set.

Thanks both, just having another attempt at EGHH > EGLL, but bearing your points in mind!
