Itemized receipts from MSFS Marketplace

Might like to read this , to get up to speed with the current “Receipt laws”

I’ve bought a lot on the MP over the last for 4 years and expecting me to have “mental notes” for all of these purchases is unrealistic, to say the least.

I link the emails that I get to images of what I see on screen. It would be up to Microsoft to deny that the 14.5 Microsoft credits I want back are for the item I am telling them I want refunded, or something else, and the item in question isn’t really in question as they can see that if they look at my account.

For the record, receipts aren’t legally required in the UK, but an invoice is.

My expectations of people actually reading a post here…

I’m literally agreeing with everyone here but this is twice my posts have been quoted out of context.

Yes, good sir, I read your posts and the statement “But you remember what you bought. You can make a mental note.” is completely unrealistic to me, regardless of any other statements in the same post.

It’s like posting “but you can take the square root of any 4-digit number in your head” and then later “but I see how a calculator can be handy”. The latter does not affect the invalidity of the first statement.

oh okay

I see it like this too.
When I bought my first items at the marketplace I was not satisfied with the receipts containing only the information of having bought some flight sim credits but no information about the bought item. I tolerated it until the first problems occured. Now I have even the problem, that some bought item is not listed as “owned” in the marketplace allthough it is listed in the profile manager. I contacted support who confirmed, that it is a marketplace bug but closed the ticket after that referring to a later solution - this is absolutely not satisfying and in this case they luckily found my purchase I still have no named proof of purchases for my other marketplace items… At least it should be possible to order a side by side list of order-numbers and purchased items from support but when I tried this I got a item list but withour order numbers…

This is very troubling. What does the EU say about this? Are we just making donations? Is MSFS a registered charity?

They don’t say anything even asking for it since years. For Germany (at least) it’s the law but MS seems not to care about.

Careful with that legal “assessment”.

At least in case of the Steam version all you do is purchase “credits” for the Microsoft Flight Simulator. That’s what the statement says that I get from Steam: “Microsoft Flight Simulator - 032 Credits”. I have no idea how it works with the non-Steam versions.

Even though I don’t like that I don’t get an email from Microsoft saying “thanks for purchasing XYZ on the Marketplace” my monetary transaction is with Steam and they send a receipt containing that not very helpful information about the credits. I’m not a lawyer but I guess that’s not breaking any of our laws here in Germany.

People don’t seem to get that we don’t “buy” anything from the in-game MP, we “buy” the amount of in-game currency needed to “unlock” the in-game MP item.
It’s practically like micro transactions in a mobile game.
Don’t get me wrong though, I agree with the itemised statement of OP. It’s just that from a bureaucratic standpoint, we buy in-game currency, so that’s what’s on your receipt.

Edit: Only thing from a German perspective is, one could argue that the presentation of the MP with it’s actuall real-life currency and “buy” buttons are slightly misleading in what you actually buy. In germany you could probably raise a complaint with the german customer protection agency.

Edit2: From MS perspective it’s their way of saying: “You can get this from us, but we don’t take any legal responsibility for it, if it’s not working.”
At least, if you don’t want to go full “Karen Mode” on them.

The problem is that I have no proof of purchase. We have a 2 week period during which we can return stuff ordered online. If I have no proof of purchase I cannot return a certain item as I have no connection from the item to the credits I payed for.
Example:
I buy “Plane A” for 20 credits 9/3/24
I buy “Plane B” for 10 credits 9/4/24
I buy “Plane C” for 30 credits 9/5/24

Add problem: I want to return “Plane B” but get confused which one is which. I can only return it when I’m able to match the plane to the date purchased (need to write down), even more difficult when I bought two items on the same day.
