January Build 1.21.18.0 - No weather radars and autopilot is broken

Hi all!

Did you guys noticed that after the last January Build 1.21.18.0 there is no weather data on the plane’s radar and the autopilot doesn’t follow the NAV at all???

Thanks,

Dionysios -

(1) The plane’s radar only display precipitation – it is NOT a Cloud radar.
The current bug is that it does not SCAN. To update it, you have to switch between Vert & Horiz

(2) The AP does follow the GPS and the Nav

If you really do have a case where it does not,. please specify.

  1. Plane
  2. Nav ID + Freq or FP leg
  3. Plane Postiton where it does not follow

Hi and thanks for your answer.

The plane I tried today and I am using it very often is the TBM 930.

  1. It’s weather radar always worked to me and since the update doesn’t. Didn’t try to switch as you’ve suggested, I will soon.

  2. Today I had a flight in New Zealand (now I don’t remember exactly the airports as I’ve selected them quickly for a fast flight) and yesterday in Greece near the Athens airport. In both cases the plan was loaded correctly and the NAV mode was on GPS and the autopilot was turning around to another point. Also my ETE time was completely wrong by the way. I was 5 minutes away from destination and was telling me 20!

The WX radar not scanning is a known defect and has been reported.

Are you using the Working Title G3000 with the TBM, and/or Mugz’ Performance Mod?

I am using the Garmin G1000 NXI from the store, but before was working fine.
By the way, I bought yesterday the C337H Skymaster - Carenado and was having exactly the same issues. I thought was a bug on this plane but today flying with the TBM which never had any autopilot issues to me, it behaved in the same way.

I’ll try tomorrow and see if other planes have problems as well.

So I"m a little confused. The G1000 doesn’t have a radar ability, at least not on the GA planes it’s mated with in the sim.

They all have NEXRAD, but that overlays an overhead view of precipitation on the map MFD via radar feed reports that are slightly delayed from real time.

Any plane that has a WX radar ability right now cannot auto scan to show you precip. That would include Longitude and TBM.

As far as AP is concerned, I can’t even repro what’s going on. NXi works exactly as advertised. The only thing I can think of is when you arm GPS, you’re not handflying or using HDG mode close enough to the Magenta line to get GPS to activate. That’s been the major change to NXi going back about two version numbers. That reflects actual Garmin functionality.

For the C337H weather radar issue I saw now in the forum that is a well known “malfunction”.
For the rest I’ll try again now. I’ll be back…

OK, so here are my results:

  • The TBM’s Weather data from NXI now it works! I swear last night I was getting no results!

  • The autopilot works as you’ve suggested, HDG mode close to the Magenta line of the GPS to activate it. I am sorry on this I wasn’t aware… My bad. :frowning:

  • C337H’s autopilot works in the same way, didn’t know that!
When the HDG is near the NAV’s yellow line finally it follows the path.

Thanks for helping!

Ok that’s good. Topic closed as solution was selected.
