JF Piper PA-28R v0.2.0 compass stuck on north

No I’m still having mouse problems in VR

I watched that earlier. That’s good to know.

Just switch between internal and external cameras, and it will be gone. BTW, whow did you manage to change the copilot appearance? I’ve been touching in the menus but switching between models did not work.

So let’s take time to make a short debrief of this plane, with this update, and around 10 hours flying with it.
The PA-28 is my learning PPL aircraft - accordingly the Warrior, not the Arrow. Thus, I mostly fly it with the landing gear down, so the performances (with 180hp instead of 160hp) should not very far from each other:

  • VR zoom focus - functionning OK (not all zones can be zoomed in, though)
  • VR mouse focus problems : OK (“close right-eye to click” is no longer necessary)
  • idle engine too high RPM : fixed OK (from 1100 rpm to around 750) - taxiing is improved
  • you cannot change the appearance of the copilot (inside view) - it’s always the same man with glasses and white captain jacket (you can have two copilots simultaneously but that sounds like a bug…)
  • ground handling : as most aircraft in MSFS, it’s sometimes difficult, especially with moderate (or strong) cross winds.
when touching ground, the effect is far too exaggerated and you often haven to use full rudder to conteract (I have Thrustmaster TPR)
  • there are problems with light switches and Saitek switch panels - some switches are reset when switching other switches. It’s still a mess.
  • i find flight handling very accurate, especially the quite heavy feeling (for a light aircraft!) and flaps management. To be picky: it seems to me the stall speed is higher than expected and happens too soon- or the IAS read on the instrument is above the real airspeed. And it’s tricky to fine-trimm.
  • sounds are so good !
    overall
  • a plane with very high-fidelity cockpit interior, especially immersive in VR, with good feeling during flight.
  • sure to buy the PA28 Warrior as soon as it launches (I enjoyed the Justflight X-Plane 11 version many hours).
I’m no native english speaker so please excuse my poor english.
    my 2 cents

It is, for me around 4-5kts too high.
You can check that in the external view which shows with a default MSFS gauge the precise IAS which also can be seen using SimConnect tools like LittleNavMap.

Thanks for the feedback, always nice to hear that it’s not far off from people who actually flew it (or a comparable aircraft).

If I change pilot under misc under simulator settings, it will change co-pilot model. They are flipped.

It is important to remember that stall speed is modified my many things including weather and how the airplane is loaded, and for that matter exactly what you’re doing at the moment.

Stall speed is not tied to a dial. This of course is why when you fly any of the big jets you see your V speeds modified flight by flight based on conditions.

You may be correct, I haven’t carefully checked the IAS vs the published speed. All I’m saying is a variance of 4 or 5 knots is not necessarily a bug.

Of course you’re right. It may also come from the fact that I often fly with OnAir and sometimes I have a tendancy to fly at max payload / fuel capacity (MTOW)…

Hi All

Is anyone experiencing CTD’s with this new version of the PA28.

I have just attempted a flight four times.

1st CDT 2 mins in taxing.
2nd CDT 35 mins in normal cruise nothing going on out of the norm.
3rd CDT 1:10 mins in normal cruise nothing going on out of the norm.
4th CDT 1:35 mins descending to the FAF.

Flew yesterday, two complete flights with the CRJ both over 2 hour’s long no issues at all and one flight with the CTSL for 1:40 mins, no issues again with that, no changes to system.

The infamous exception code: 0xc0000005 is the only thing I can find in the event log for each CDT.

Each flight is setup as I would normally fly, live weather, no live traffic and no multiplayer enabled.

Gee this game SIM really needs a better way of debugging these CTD’s.

Just thought I would ask, if anyone else has experienced CTD’s with this Aircraft and version. I had no CTD’s with the previous version !!

I doubt that particular error is anything to do with this plane specifically. That error code appears for pretty much every crash I’ve ever had, flying a variety of planes.

No CTDs for me since many weeks. No issues with that addon in terms of stability or performance (except for the EFB fps impact if not hidden).

I doubt that the CTDs are related to the addon, rather to you flying somewhere else with it than with the CRJ.

:slightly_smiling_face: yes and there in lies the problem, at least X Plane used to provide a log file, so you could identify what was going on at the time within the SIM, it gave you a starting point.

It is strange as to date I have not really had too many of these and to have four with the same Aircraft of the bat, when I flew two others yesterday with no issue at all is just weird.

But with no log file who an earth do you raise it with.

No, no CTDs. Working fine on a 1:35 hour flight today.

Thanks Jigsaw, so a comparable flight time that I was attempting.

I actually don’t think it’s the Aircraft or version of, but I just wanted to check with others in case they had seen this behaviour with it.

Going back through all setting’s in detail now just in case something got change somewhere.

Found out this evening that even if you have icing airframe effects turned off in MS 2020, when icing starts on the JD Arrow, you will see your airspeed decay to the point where with full power, you stall. Only work around is to go into the weather and crank up the temperature way above freezing and hope the ice melts. The alternative is you “crash”.

Oi. I have uninstalled, reinstalled both the GNS 530 mod, or Piper and still have the odd issue of hitting the Altitude Hold hidden “button” and the plane just jumps up frantically, increasing the angle of attack to over 3000fpm. To be fair, I hardly use that “hidden” option but I never had this issue before. Again, I have tried with or without the GNS 530 mod. There are no textures or anything added.

I’ve used it a fair but, and it tends to default to ±700fpm. I’ve not seen it do anything else.

Well I completed this flight last night in the end with no CTD’s.

Fixed by removing the GNS530 MOD and all was well, flew exactly the same route, using the same VOR’s to navigate.

Strange as I have not had issues with that MOD before, with this or any other plane.

That’s unfortunately a general issue in MSFS and affects all aircraft that have no anti-/de-icing capabilities.
It’s ridiculous that a setting called “visual only” still affects performance, which is why I cannot wait that they implement an “off” option soon.

Yes , and i would really know if in reality this " Icing" and all the consquences happens so often as it does in MSFS . I think its a bit exagerated ( and i heard this before) it seems that in MSFS to often when you just fly thru a cloud with temperature below 0 C you´ll have icing … and thats not real at all .
for example and many more say ;

So please lets find a way ( maybe in the cfg) to at least low down , when not possible to disable,
