Joby S4 navigation screen turn off

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

I often use the Joby S4 and after about 40 minutes the navigation screens turn off whenever I’m flying or the aircraft is parked.

When the bug occurs, the button to turn off / turn on screens has no effect.

Turn off / turn on the battery with the battery button has no effect too.

The only way I found to get the screen back is to exit the flight and start it again.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:

Joby S4

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

The bug occurs in each flight after about 40 minutes on flight or if the aircraft is parked.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Flight with the Joby S4 for about 40 minutes. If the battery is empty, charge it thanks to the charge option in the plane.
  2. After about 40 minutes, the navigation screen will turn off automatically.

Similar issue has been reported here and user fixed it by disabling their addons, could you try the same if you have any addons ?: Joby S4 Displays fail after a few minutes - #3 by FeintGames

Hello, I’m on Xbox Series X so it is the default installation (game installed from MS Store).

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• YES

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Even with every flight I get suddenly black displays after approx. 35-40min of flight.

  • Tried to land earlier and “charge” the batterys, but this has no effect of extending the period until black screens in the Joby. There seems also no function in the Joby to restart/re-initialize the displays.
  • I must start a new flight then the displays are working again, after they are initialized.
  • In the menue assistant settings are activated like endless fuel, battery and I changed nothing of these parameters since the last working flights. By that the charging display shows the whole time 100%. But it seems that in the background the battery goes to empty? (what with my settings didn´t should do).

This whole bug did´nt appeared some weeks earlier as I hade done a tour along the Colorado River. There was no similar effect.
So I assume it´s since the last published bigger Update, but I have no clue what in the background happens, because the most of the game works via cloud - so I see no active installation of an update.

I use MSFS24 on PC via XBox-GamePass.
I have no mods for MSFS2024 installed and also have not the last WorldUpdate.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
After properly starting up the Joby S-4 and flying for approximately 30 minutes all display screens go dark. The aircraft still flies OK and is controllable. At the point the screens go dark there is approximately 65% remaining power in the batteries - as displayed on the left MFD. This is a repeatable bug.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:
Joby S-4

Problem observed on two 30 minute flights in different geographic areas, on two separate dates this week.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Primary Flight Display (PFD), Multi-function Display (MFD), and Garmin Touchscreen Controller (GTC) all turn off around 30-40 minutes after turning on the main battery.
• The primary flight battery charge level does not matter.
• The MFD battery charge level is unrelated to the starter battery used to power the three displays.
• SU2 v 1.4.20.0
• No addons. Empty Community Folder. No Dev mode.
• Flight started from cold and dark > Performed a 20 minute flight > Landed and recharged the flight battery to 100% by deploying & securing the charger from the MFD > Within 10 minutes the PFD, MFD, and GTC all went black > Unable to restore displays without ending the flight.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

In a nighttime freeflight with the Joby-S4, after about 15 min of flight time, both G3000 displays and the small control display suddenly got black, the flashlight was activated. The aircraft was still flying and could be controlled, battery level was above 70%. After landing, trying to switch the main battery off and on again did not restart the G3000 system.

Did you experience this issue before you joined the Beta?
Probably Beta 3 issue (but did not fly the Joby S4 before)

• Also happening on PC/Steam

I suspect the issue is caused by the avionics battery not being charged from the flight battery.
