Joystick frozen when mouse over external monitor

I believe that my question has probably been raised. I use a laptop and an external monitor. The main monitor is on the laptop and usually use the other one for instruments, maps, etc.

Nevertheless, when the mouse is over the external monitor, all the controls freeze (X56 joystick and probably keyboard as well). In other words, I can’t simultaneously pilot and tweak what is displayed on the external monitor. Is there a way to keep all the controls active even if the mouse is over an external monitor.
