July 13, 2023 Development Update Blog Discussion

Hello @AerMingus,

This is untrue. As we’ve previously outlined in our Marketplace intake process document, all functional testing of Marketplace products is the responsibility of the product’s developer, not Microsoft or Asobo. Additionally, developers are required to use either physical Xbox Series X|S hardware or Xbox Cloud Gaming (or a combination of both) to test their Xbox releases.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

  1. It is not an option for partners to keep functional testing with Microsoft. Partners are required to take ownership of their content’s functional testing.
  2. Partners are required to use Xbox Series X/S hardware or Xbox Cloud Gaming to test their own Xbox content. We will gather information from partners on whether they are using Xbox Series X/S hardware or Xbox Cloud Gaming for functional testing. Partners are welcome but not required to use a combination of these Xbox testing mechanisms.

Yea Asobo doesn’t test the updates. After 3 years it’s obvious they don’t test the updates or Asobo is in way over their heads. And for those who think FS2024 will be the cure all think again. It’s going to be more of the same.

Which is why as I and many others have stated, we desperately need COMMENTS added to the ratings system so we can READ about why someone rates a package the way they do.

Edit: Because as of now, it essentially falls to the consumer to “test” some of the products. If we had comments and we purchased something that was badly designed, written, or executed, then we could at least warn others and have some positive feeling about the purchase.

Holy, i didn’t know you guys this anti-consumer. Can’t you awesome people at Ms and Asobo at least remove and refund some of the 80-100% not working and false advertised addons on xbox from marketplace please? Who will protect us? Europe consumer rights? How about saint martin airport, was developer"s fault? Will this be same in msfs2024 please? If so can you please add this to 2024 FAQ?

But this was true prior to March 2023, and many products on the marketplace released prior to this date reflect what @AerMingus is saying.

At the end of day Microsoft is charging money. Partners are required to bla bla bla, but when it doesn’t happen you still charge money. It’s your marketplace at the end of day. If i go at the market and buy bad food i won’t go to the producer to complain, right?

If you bothered to go check and read the PMDG forums you’d find out that liveries for PMDG are still being fleshed out. [06JUL23] We are being intentionally vague regarding Xbox liveries for DC-6 and 737 - PMDG Simulations and are probably a few weeks before being put out.

Where did Stansted go? It’s listed here but can’t locate it on market place

I’ve been keeping up with that thread closely. Just over a week ago, Robert said:

Keeping in mind that his post was made before last week’s marketplace update when the DC-6 liveries were released, he was clearly saying that they anticipated releasing more liveries either yesterday or next week. I was simply saying that I’m bummed it wasn’t yesterday.

And it won’t be for a few weeks more probably. Anything “release” ready comes every 2 or more weeks at a time based on the history of Randazzo’s posting. So if it didn’t happen last week, probably won’t happen this week and since it hasn’t been confirmed that they’ve fixed the issues they have now it won’t be for at least 2 more. I’d wait until August.

They literally just got done going to Houston and going a live FAQ. What more do we need?

Exactly It would appear that some users want to have a weekly 1 hour debrief of what has happened development wise.

i only bother checking whats coming to the marketplace.

Kind of … The number of open bugs would require more frequent info’s.

Do you know a software, gaming or any other company that actually does this? The most that consumers get, as far as my experience goes, is a message: we are aware and working on it. More often than not there’s no mention of a time frame, or any other promises.

at work i open jira, take a look into the specific ticket and get all about the bug which is logged.
when we open the threads of “logged”-tagged bugs … there is nothing, null response or what might happen or is “logged” the last how a reported bug can evolve? What happens next? Or will it fixed anytime and pop up “fixed” as a surprise later?

That takes me back to the beginning of this thread: Developer Feedback … when giving development update each Thursday, i expect something about development, bug fixing and not an outdated version of a roadmap with the promise of a upcoming snapshot this week which is not been giving?.
(Ok the snapshot is not what i expect as a development update, but that would be step 2 to discuss)… the first step: Why call it dev update, why just copy and paste outdated roadmaps into it… conclusion is:
It’s all unloving and dishonest what comes back from MS, Asobo and the Author of the Dev Update.
If the author recognize a outdated e.g. roadmap feedback snapshot etc, why does he use it instead of demanding a current version?
My frustration is made up of all these little things

Well. As far as I know Asobo uses an internal tracking system. And the latest status on Zendesk is that the issue has been carried over to that system. The info we have afterwards is the bug and wish list from the dev updates.
MSobo’s communications with us is more about the new stuff coming. That is what they call development. It’s also the moment where the devs give an update. Hence the name Dev Update.

Their answers in Q&A’s regarding issues are quite evasive, or generic. There’s no back & forth to get deeper. I don’t think that will change. They keep their cards to themselves.

This is just too rude, emotional, and untrue. But I am afraid that this goes in the category of ‘the sound of the digital times’. Not a happy dev update of humanity…

Yes, tons of new stuff insted of slow it down and fixing.

I also dont think it will change… it will not change with 2024, it might getting worse.

They keep their cards to themselves.

That is why i think jorg’s statements about community is just worth nothing. they are not honest when its about development and let us know what going on…
best example was the silence when hell opened by the “bandwith to low issue” issue…

As a Xbox user I don’t feel I have a choice, I view the marketplace, I’m presented with a small amount of information then I have to make my choice, buy or don’t buy. If I do purchase and I find the product just is not there yet I have to wait for a fix and wait and wait and wait. In the PC world most developers will update their work and publish fixes quite quickly sometimes the day after. We Xboxer’s have no clue when we will see a fix become available so I usually just don’t fly the aircraft again. Airfields, we seem to have a problem where they will work on some xbox systems and not others, so how do you make a choice? I guess you purchase it and find out and then wait, wait, wait for an update.

At no time prior to me purchasing a XBOX ( just for MSFS) did I see any advertisement stating “Vanilla is the only way” - personally I can cope with 90% of the bugs in MSFS but the problems with memory and black screen while I’m still presented with many add ons in the marketplace is unacceptable. You may say “why not just stop purchasing stuff then”

Well, Why Not!

I think this is one of the most important points regarding the Xbox issues. It’s not as if we should just know better than to expect marketplace addons to work.
