Payed for my F28 9 months ago
i was one off the lucky ones who bought it before it got removed ![]()
I wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the summer sale if the F28 came during that time as i was one of the few to have bought it 9 months ago.
@NORTMAR i just want to thank you and the entire Justflight team for bringing the F28 back to Xbox after 9 months ![]()
Currently airborne from EHRD to LFRN and no issues to report ![]()
This weekend is gonna be great ![]()
yes, it is great but sadly ground textures look awfull with it on Xbox… , what a mess…
I have no issues with ground textures, i suspect that has to do with the base sim and not the F28
Ground textures look fine to me.
Currently on my 2nd flight and the cabin pressure light is on, eventhough i set my cabin pressure and all doors are closed
Can someone advise ![]()
Completed a 2 hour and 53 minute flight from KSEA-KPHX. Only issue i have to report is some stutters, near KPHX and KSEA but thats more likely on my side. Gave her a nice butter landing too.
Not to spoil the XBox release, but was there not also a new patch in the works for PC? The F28 (while great! I love it) remains one of the worst performing aircraft on my system (compared to the PMDG offerings, or the A300, even).
I was hoping existing users might also benefit from maybe any optimisation being done to get the thing running on XBox.
Safely returned from LFRN back to EHRD, About a 3 hour roundtrip and no issues to report ![]()
Only the cabin pressure light came on but that was user error ![]()
Now safely at EHRD and cannot wait to return to the cockpit tomorrow ![]()
I was really looking forward to buying the F28. As an Xbox user I find the pricing a bit hard to bear.
Currently it’s on sale for PC users on the JF store for circa £36. Up until yesterday it was on sale as far as I am aware on the Marketplace for PC.
Then surprisingly enough just as the Summer sale comes to an end it appears on Xbox for £58.
This looks to me like taking the Xbox simmers for a ride, so for me it’s a thanks but no thanks.
There is no reason why JF couldn’t have lowered the price to match the sale price or similar.
Yeah it’s weird the MS aug 1 dev update blog post shows it on sale for $48.99, but def showing up on my XBOX market place for full price $69.99. Doh!
I’m def excited it’s finally out for XBOX though. Thx for all the hard work getting it to us.
Not sure if the devs look at this forum but on xbox the pilots are only visible in the cockpit on external view if I zoom in to maximum. Small detail I know but surely this can’t be right?
Here’s some balance for you. Firstly, we’re really not interested in taking Xbox users or any other users for a ride, that’s not how we operate. What has happened here is really down to unfortunate timing. When we agreed to include the F28 PC version in the sale we weren’t aware that the Xbox version was going to be released and available yesterday. At that point it might well have still been one month, two months or more away from a release. You then seeing the Xbox version available yesterday and the sale ending simultaneously jarred with you, I get that and empathise but there’s nothing sinister going on there.
PC owners of the F28 will have paid full price upon release and the first sale offering wouldn’t have been until at least 6 months after release. So if we’d been aware of the timings that were going to present themselves here we’d have either delayed the Xbox release for one week (not ideal given the clamour for it) or simply not included the F28 in the sale. From a commercial POV given all the extra work that was required to get the F28 working on Xbox it’s simply not viable for us to release it at a reduced price. Sorry, but that was never going to be an option.
Understand your stance and deciding against buying it, that’s your call but just wanted to reply with some balance and a bit of context for you.
Thanks.
Well I’ll be waiting until it’s 30% off again. I suspect a lot of Xbox users will be the same. So not only are all those sales still £40 instead of £60 (rounding for clarity) you’re going to have to wait four and a half months for them.
This is the most expensive aircraft on the marketplace by far, equalled only by the pmdg 737 700 but then every other aircraft is at least 30% cheaper, not on sale. Not only that but the 30% off sale is clearly visible in the marketplace update. It’s going to really rub people the wrong way, as it has me.
Also i just want to unpack your logic a little bit here.
You say that you had to do extra work on the aircraft for the Xbox so you need to charge full price. What i would say is that for the product of “xbox F28” you had already done the majority of the work when you made it for PC. The extra money to cover your hard work getting it to work on Xbox is covered by the extra sales you wouldn’t have got if the product remained solely on pc.
I agree and am afraid will hold too, with the 777 on finals …it’s quite obvious.
I think indeed it’s an awkward and unfortunate timing.
Of course JF is free to determine whatever commercial strategy they think is best for their business. I’ve always loved and praised their top notch quality products. However from a customer pov I also would like to emphasize for balance, it’s been 9 months of wait… 9 months!, we obviously appreciate and are immensely grateful to JF for making the effort to bring the plane to xbox but it’s been a very long wait - that is a fact, so I’m not sure the argument PC users paid full price for the first 4 months until a Sale was available holds in my head- product is been delivered nine months later so a gesture to xbox users could have been a good way to capture even more sales.
Makes sense for you to wait I’d agree if you’re keen on getting it much cheaper. That’s the same logic that can be applied when any product is released. You know it will be discounted at some point, some prefer to act and get the add-on immediately others will wait and act when sales come along. We get that and if that’s for you then that’s fine.
It is quite expensive yes as was the PC version when it released and still is, other than when it features in sale activity. But it’s worth the money in our opinion, it’s study level in our opinion and offers amazing value for money. Aware that the price showing up in the marketplace update will have irked with some but there’s nothing we could do about that, we don’t choose the times when the sales begin and end. Sorry.
And in response to your final point, no it doesn’t work like that, not at Just Flight anyway. It’s just not something we’ll ever entertain doing if we have any control. None of our previous Xbox releases that follow the PC release have been discounted. It’s unfair on those that have purchased the PC version on release and simply not a business model we’re going to adopt. We release at full-price and over time the add-on gets discounted at various stages and in various sales and those who are yet to purchase get a chance to pick it up cheaper. The extra money we’ll need to break even on the extra work and then help us to reinvest in future projects is forecasted by way of full price sales and then future discounted sales. It’s already doing very well for us since release yesterday and delivering nicely, which we’re satisfied with.
Sorry you’re dissatisfied with the release and I do hope at some point in the future you’ll be able to pick up the F28 for your pleasure.
Thank you.
Im very happy to have bought the F28 at full price
with the included 4 variants, amazing quality and amazing sounds, it is absolutly worth it IMO ![]()
Very quickly as I’m likely to be fighting an uphill battle here I know…
Appreciate your POV and it’s your prerogative to make up your own mind about our failings with this release.
It really doesn’t make any difference, the length of time it’s taken to bring the Xbox version with regards pricing. Be it a 6, 9, 12 month or 2 years delay. That’s not how it work or will ever work. The delay could have been so much longer if not for the incredible talent and staff we have in place who have managed to get the F28 working to an acceptable standard. Until the original product was released we’d have no idea of the problems we were facing with Xbox dev work. The limitations turned out to be crazy so we’ve needed to wait for sim updates, deployed more dev staff to help on the project and so on, so the delay hasn’t been of our making. And seeing the F28 finally available on Xbox was a massive achievement and vast relief at our end.
The point about PC users and their wait for a discounted version wasn’t intended to be included in any argumentative manner, it was just a fact to point out that we will always adopt the same release strategy in terms of pricing for both versions irrespective of timelines and release dates.
Finally to say, many of our past products have been delayed by way more than 9 months, all for justifiable reasons I’m hasten to add, and although I’m sure large swathes of the community would welcome a discount as a good-will gesture I’m afraid it will just never happen and doesn’t add-up to a sensible business decision, rest assured on that.
I do hope you get to enjoy the F28 Professional some day and yes the 777 on finals makes for very exciting times.
Thank you.
I absolutely love the JF planes (got the Pipers, Hawk, Vulcan and Bae 146).
The quality and craftsmanship and the amount of effort that goes into these add ons is not in question they are truly fantastic and I will always applaud this.
I think it purely comes down to the timing of the release for me and the high cost involved.
It is also a little irksome that some people were able to download a copy of MSFS onto any old PC (even one not capable of playing MSFS) just to buy the plane at the discounted price from the Marketplace, then when it released on Xbox they get access to it.
I just dont feel it’s a level playing field for all customers.
I will inevitably pick up the F28 at some point but not at the moment.
Edit: I would like to thank the JF team for engaging in this debate in a civil manner (not all developers are able to do this) and explaining their standpoint.
