People are welcome report their problems with sim, with their feelings about that, in ranges of course. next problem is knowledge about that problematic. See how many topics are named - This need to be fixed!!! and you see in post that user absolutelly not understand how Ap works, and many other similar topics started grow. take another interesting thing - Power lines. Sry but I saw maybe 2 topics till this time about this and look, Asobo implemented that with new Patch without any news with released Patch inside! What you can imagine ? Looks like Asobo still point its interest to Players-Gamers not Sim group. If I tak ethat Power lines implementation, I see that BUG with STD Baro knob as one minute show to that Power lines implementation No, that required knob they omitted…
Off-topic: I’ve noticed that. The heat generated by this card is unbearable. Solution is to keep at least a window or your door open, and make sure there’s air coming in and out of your room where the PC is. I’ve noticed the hot air from the card is getting trapped in my room and can’t get out, almost suffocating me lol
You do understand at this point there are no refunds, right?
And do you seriously think it’s fair for you to judge the reactions of others based on YOUR experience?
It’s cool and all that you like the sim and you enjoy flying in it, but, as you said, be mature enough to understand that people are stuck with this very expensive thing - WITH NO REFUNDS - that doesn’t even run, and a dev that doesn’t (as of yet) acknowledge those problems.
i don’t agree, if all people were like you programmers wouldn’t even start to make the fix and just leave the game like this.
This is not a freeware, if i do mistakes at job they make notice to me and they got angry.
Why with this sim they can do a ■■■■ job and people should be happy to throw away money?? Not in the real world
If some of the “influencers” who posted glowing fault free videos had had some honesty maybe we would have waited to buy. Having been tricked into buying we surely have a right to complain.
I have put a lo of video makers who I had respected on my ignore list.
Call it my exp coming from this industry, here is how I decided which version to purchase, I bought the basic BTW
All pre release videos were awesome and partnership ones gave a fair magnitude of complexity
Looking at my past exp building brand new platforms with a degree of complexity - it is hard and extremely lucky to be first-time-right
Thrust on partnership, or at least online chatter to that effect meant - lean on 3rd party developers for add ons as an official startegy. Specially better version of flight models; I was’nt so sure of scenery but that as well fell in the same fold.
This led me to believe, add ons will anyway have to be purchased later so, why go big bang and buy premier deluxe? Worst case, if the new platform will be that good, I would always have the upgrade option. Played conservatively and that has helped me not being as frustrated as I wouldve honestly been if I went for premier deluxe.
Same. I bought the Basic Version on release day. I never had any intention of flying default aircraft anyway. I will happily wait for 3PD’s to create some study level aircraft. The extra ‘handcrafted’ airports doesn’t sell the Deluxe to me either. I bought this as a base to build upon myself. Some of the freeware stuff looks better than the handcrafted airports imo. I was always going to buy 3rd party airports that I wanted anyway regardless as I mainly fly in UK & Europe. £60 for a next generation base sim is awesome.
Part of the joy of simulation for me is to add stuff to get it as real and unique as possible. Asobo seems to be cracking weather lighting and scenery very well compared to anything else available but I was always going to buy aircraft and airports as extras, so I’m not disappointed at this stage. Hopefully by time the study level stuff comes along the Sim will have had even more polishing and a switch can be made permenant. For now I’m happy to fly in my other Sim 80% of the time and check in every now and then. This has pedigree for sure 100%. Exciting times
I feel sorry for the people in your position. You are probably new to flight sim and thought it would be like most games where the scope is much smaller, the experience is very controlled and there are relatively few issues.
In flightsim there has never been a sim that has released “finished”… Read never. Not FSX, not P3D, Not Xplane … none. These sims are more like ‘No man’s sky’ they release with a lot of promise but can take years to get all the fine details right.
I would love to take a poll on how many users simply cannot launch the sim. I agree that’s a major issue. If that were happening to me I would 1) Make sure I actually have to specs to run the game, 2) I tried a few clean installs. 3) If not I would make a personalized ticket for support.
If $120 is lifechanging money for you, maybe rethink your choice of flightsim, it usually requires hundreds of dollars of investment. I can’t wait for the first prices of payware airliners to come out. Most of them cost $60 - $120 just for 1 plane! And they will also have bugs and crash the sim! These are complex simulations and engineers will make mistakes.
Patience is a virtue in this hobby. If you’re not patient you’re not going to like the hobby.
Quite the contrary my friend. I have been simming for 25 years and spent 1000’s fine tuning over the years to have more realistic simulations. Don’t ever feel sorry for me I didn’t post as a moan. Whoever thought this was never going to require extra add-ons was fooling themselves. The fact that this is still currently more like a game is the reason it sits idle for me 80% of the time until it is polished, but as I stated this is fine for me. I knew this before handing my money over and didnt have a problem with that. I’m coming along for the ride too. I’ve been in the game long enough to know that it will mature in time. I’ve been waiting 25 years for something like this so would never write it off as early as some of the other community members. Try not to judge a book by a few words that are written and ASSUME. Because it makes an A-S-S of U and ME
I’d love to know how many people are having issues with the ‘bugs’ in this sim when the reality is the problem is with them, their system, their computer, the software they have on their computer, updates, drivers etc etc. I.e. the stuff the end user is responsible for sorting out. Despite having had zero issues with downloading, installing, patching and running this sim (56hours in and not one crash), I’m more than receptive to the notion that there are issues for some others and it’s not working for them as it does for me. But everyone justifiable in laying the blame at Asobo’s doorstep? Nah, no chance. Just reading some of the comments made on here is enough to convince you of that.
It’s not very helpful to the community to just assume people are not following due protocols. I’ve been through all the steps and still haven’t got an answer from the devs (in contrast, on release day I got one almost instantly).
But let me make an assumption of my own here, and I bet I’ll be correct.
You guys never even opened a thread about those issues to read on what’s going on, what people are doing, what are the available workarounds or whether people have sent support tickets on this issue, or even to try and help someone.
Just to clarify, in all the 20 years or so I’ve been on flight sims I never encountered problems as bad as this, not on FS2004, not on FSX, P3D or even XP11 (not even when beta testing). I spent thousands of hours happily flying even with 15fps and the occasional CTD in the middle of an 8-hour flight. It happens, but at least they ran. And when they didn’t at least the devs provided workarounds or some way to troubleshoot.
Am I being negative for saying that? No.
Complaining is part of the solution to the problem, and those facts are relevant to the matter.
How are the devs supposed to address the issues some people have if they think it’s all fine and dandy because, just like for you, their software is running just fine?
Also the argument trying to invalidate the problem by questioning the amount of people with said problem is itself invalid. That’s not how things work.
Being myself a software developer I understand that I have the obligation to make sure people who buy my services or products get what they paid for, and you have to troubleshoot problems without assumptions even if they are coming from a small percentage of the userbase.
And I’d be even more concerned about those problems if my users could not get refunds due to some dumb design choices.
BTW, “just don’t buy it” or “just ask for a refund” are also very damaging to the community, and I’m sure not even MS/Asobo themselves like this kind of approach.
Having been on both sides of the fence, it’s definately nicer when sitting on the working side of the fence.
All the agravation that a non-working game causes is simple imperceivable to someone who has a working game, until they are in that nofly situation… then those “patting/there-there” people are even more fanatic on the forum than everybody else
The moaning and roaring in this forum, has helped me to try and get an understanding in fixing the problem i was having… it’s just that people actually turn to the forum as soon as there is a problem, but most donot know how to explain exactly what is happening to them perfectly, so most posts are actually about the same problem and moderators seem to be cropping the issues together in some posts to minimize the number of subjects.
The sheer number of people who bought into this game so far, also leads me to believe that the 5-10% that is having a problem, is actually posting or monitoring the forums, whilst the other 90% are just happily flying around, much to the dismay of those who are not able.
It’s a ■■■■■■■■ and a joyride at the same time. But so far, this is the best version flightsim that i’ve ever flown… when it was working. 50+ hrs in now.
well, if you wanna take a break, i just discovered a great game, in which i’ve discovered no flaws other than my own buttery fingers on the xbox controller: Art of Rally
I dont usually advertise a game, but man, this one i found to be actually really nice. (yes, my opinion!) Top-ish down racing, arcade, lovely yet basic graphics, upbeat music, a competition element and a feel good attitude of the maker. Check out some youtube clips before diving into it. It suits my style, doesn’t mean it suits yours… but at least it’ll take yer mind off of FS for a few hours/days till they work on your workaround to get yer BE-hind back in the air.
Yes I totally agree, it’s had a few ups and downs but that’s to be expected. The Japan patch was a bit nasty but that’s been rectified and the over all experience is now pretty incredible. I bought my first pc many years ago to play the first version, and have played and invested in add ons through the years, prior to msfs2020 using p3d.
Msfs 2020 is now pretty incredible and a huge achievement. I don’t have a high end pc, and only a gtx 980 but am now finding it a smooth and gorgeous looking SIM in most aspects, after the last update
Well done !
Agree. I have a low-medium end PC and fly at high setting. Occasional stutters but is smooth for most part and I recently got fsdt Zurich which also works quiet well.
I am quiet happy with it, not that I haven’t had CTDs - in fact I couldn’t launch the game for weeks after Japan update that was finally fixed by subsequent update. Just have to be patient and I am sure we will be in far better place a couple of months down the line.
Your opinion is just a very small drop in a very large ocean.
I stream FS2020 over Twitch, the most recent patch, which has absolutely killed frame rate outside of VR, directly affects my ability to stream and get subscribers/viewers.
I point this out because there ARE reasons why it’s not feasible, or at the very least, potentially financially detrimental for someone to “just take a break”.
Further, there is nothing wrong with expecting a quality, functioning product that you are paying money for.
I don’t disagree. It was released way before it was done. Being in the software industry for the past 26 years, this premature release smells like the work of the bean counters at Microsoft that wanted to see return on their hefty investment of the last 5 years.
In any case, it is what it is. For better or worse, it’s out. And my original comment still stands.
