Hello All
I’m currently facing an issue in where the 146 would (in many cases) not show the distance to the active VOR.
The thing is - it is not consistent. Sometimes it works - mostly not. But the course is active and I can fly it with the AP - but I just never know when I arrive at the VOR.
And yes - the VOR’s are very well in range
You see- I CAN activate the V/L mode - it follows the course - but the distance stays — …
Any ideas? It’s not that I’m new to this plane - this just crept up recently…
A VOR does not have Distance Measuring Equipment.
A VOR DME is required to get distance.

Oopsie - there we go! Thanks!
May I ask? If you don’t know the distance - and assuming you don’t have LNM in real live ^^ - how do you navigate with “just VOR” then? How do you find out if you are “over it”?
Ah - wait - I got it! You wait for the “needle-flip” !

One way it’s done is to use two VOR and plot the intersection.

I see - thanks! Gonna try that out.
I did a little test with the VORDEM “ZWN” (Zweibrücken - Germany).
This one did not give me a distance reading.
The same happened also with the neighbouring VORDME “KRH” (Karlsruhe)…
I know I got distance informations before - I often use it. But now it seems to also fail with VORDME’s…
It looks like you may have the nav1 radio in standby, that may be the reason.
I see - I will check! Indeed - I might have had a “fast finger freddy” syndrom haha
