JustFly Piper Arrow...huge disappointment

Remove all mods to see if one of them might cause it.
Except for that one known issue which happens for me every ~2 flights my GPS on the Arrow are totally fine.
I guess you followed the checklists? Actually just BAT+ALT ON is sufficient to turn them on.

Same thing in the Carenado Seminole. If you set up the AP (but leave it off) prior to takeoff you get a hard roll to the left.

You can check it out by going to external camera (on the ground) and toggle the AP with the keyboard command. Watch the ailerons go to full deflection and back to neutral.

“It’s a feature, not a bug.”

Oh really?!? Haven’t heard about that reproduction of the same issue yet.
Then it is rather a Sim issue than the addons…

In the parallell thread where I write more about my findings, there’s also a hint about the Sim Update 3 and fixes regarding the AP behavior:

As in the link I provided to the release notes, Asobo made a TON of fixes to THEIR AP’s in SU3.

So, as far as the JF AP is concerned, it depends on if JP wrote the AP or they used the default. I don’t know. If JF wrote it, and they didn’t apply the fixes of SU3, then, JF has some work to do.

I may check that out. I haven’t “flown” since SU3… but I’ll see if the AP is still misbehaving.

Cheers!

I fly with an xbox controller. On approach the control sensitivity is messed (not my custom settings). Feels like the yoke has a serious deadzone under 80 kts

Is it in pitch? The elevator can be quite ineffective at low airspeed in the PA28

Glitch is still present, and my former workaround for the PA-44 no longer works.

I really miss the ability to assign different profiles to different aircraft as was possible in XPlane 11. It saved all the hassle of trying to remember to change the different profiles when you use different aircraft. Hopefully, MS/Asobo will implement a similar system in some future update (without violating Laminar’s
patent/copywrite).

Yes but its glitchy and hard to keep the nose up. I couldn’t get a power off stall

I love this plane. Will be my new placeholder for whatever A2A releases.

I’d argue it’s got even better eye candy than the Carenado too

JF PA been great here. It does have a couple of issues I’ve noticed.
1 Phantom AP… annoying
2 Randomly can’t get mouse to focus on switch in VR… annoying
3 No zoom in VR… annoying
It fly’s great so far…
I’m just happy to have some gauges … thanks JF!

Yes, I can testify to that. For other planes I can flare with two fingers on my yoke. In this plane I practically have to pull the yoke back to my chest to flare. Roll is fine though. At cruise it does mean you have very good control. I can make minute adjustments, and see the planes nose rise, and fall respectively, it’s just at low air speeds over the elevator, as you say.

I have a linear curve for both axes on my Yoko+.

This function is available, I have several profiles that I switch between for different Aircraft.

It’s called the preset manager. When the Arrow came along I simply created a new profile adjusted the sensitivity to linear as advised remapped some buttons and saved it.

I have six different profiles now for different aircraft , all with different keys mapped and differing sensitivity settings. Its just a case then of flipping between them dependent on what I fly.

I am totally aware of this function, but that is not the way it worked in XPlane 11. In that sim, you created a profile and then assigned it to one or more aircraft (such as Cherokee, King Air, Bonanza, 737, etc.) Then, when you chose that aircraft for your flight, the profile was automatically loaded. Yes, you can create separate profiles in MSFS for each type of aircraft but then you have to manually switch to that profile when you switch planes. I realize it is not that hard but the XP system was still easier. That was my point. I’m fairly certain other XP11 users will agree. I have profiles for piston single, piston twin, turboprop single, turboprop twin, and so forth. But if I go from the Arrow to the TBM, I have to go into the options and switch the profile. That was not necessary in XPlane if I had assigned the single piston to the Arrow already or turboprop single to the TBM.

I agree TC (same birthday as me 1952?).

It’s not deal-breaking in FS just a pain in the donkey bits.

Xplane is way better, more intuitive and easier to use, as you say.

In the Q&A they said they are refactoring the controls menu(?) and are aware of the wish to assign control setup to aircraft. But unfortunately it didn’t sound like we’d get that soon…
But we’re going off topic I think. Let’s get back to that specific addon. There are plenty threads on controls configuration in the forum.

Sorry about the subject creep. I’ll try to contain myself more in the future.
