I hope somebody has an answer:
I’m using the Hoenycom Bravo for controlling the autopilot, but I’ve some issues with the KAP 140.
When I select the VS Mode with the left knob and turn the right knob (inccrease / drecrease) the KAP dosen’t shows the VS values. So I can’t figrue out, if I climb/sink with 100FPM or 200FPM.
I have the same, I just count the ‘clicks’ one click 100ft, not sure if the GitHub download resolves the issue but I’m always wary of GitHub downloads unless it’s a well known Developer
The KAP140 mod fixes this. Flying an aircraft with a stock KAP 140 without this mod is not nice at all. I’m really not sure how they can allow it to be that bad, but it is.
Do yourself a favour and get the mod if you are on PC.
I tried both, the defualt and the mod 1.0 from Github, but without any sucess…
Perhaps it’s the extra combination of that thing they call an autopilot in the Bravo. The mod works great. Try it without the Bravo to see it working properly and then perhaps invest in some 3rd party software to configure the Bravo buttons.
I am the author of the mod on github. The design of the two-knob system on Bravo running with the standard in-SIM default control drivers does easily control all KAP140 inputs as you say. What a lot of people do is run a third-party control mapper like AAO, spad.next or fsuip. You could then map the unneeded buttons VS and IAS to UP and DOWN directly (H:KAP140_Push_UP and H:KAP140_Push_DN). Or any other buttons on the equipment you have. Or even two keyboard keys. The readme for the mod has some hints on this. You will want to think about 1000s and 100s on the altitude setting too.
Of course going with the 3rd party mapper has expense in both money to purchase and time to learn how to configure.
The goal of the KAP140 mod is to correct incorrect status display on the KAP140 screen. Generating the correct external control inputs, i.e. UP and DOWN, is really another subject.
If this is all too big as mess for you, can always use the mouse to hit UP and DN. The first press shows current VS, and additional press will inc or dec.
