2024 had been working pretty well for me until last week. The game wouldnt return to desktop and close the game. It would just hang and I would have to Ctrl Alt Del and end the task. However after doing this a couple of times the next time I tried to load the sim I got a message saying it wasnt online. I have always installed onto an external hard drive for both MSFS2020 and MSFS2024 and have never had an issue, but for some reason it looked like it had lost its links to start the game. Given it doesnt seem to take too long to download again I formatted the drive and reinstalled. The first time I load is problem free, I can close the game and it reloads fine, but the moment I unplug the hard drive and plug it back in… its gone!!! The drive isnt then visible in XBox app to reinstall and I have to delete the partition on the drive and reformat to make it visible again. I have tried it on 2 hard drives both with the same results, its driving me mad… simple enough to reinstall but not being able to unplug the hard drive is going to be problematic.. Any ideas???
