After I have installed all default updates for Northern Europe etc, I have found that Keflavik airport is in the forest, which is not true in real life - the whole area is treeless.
Any idea what can be wrong here?
ICAO airport code added to the title for easier search.
Personal Comments and Observations
If you’re running any Community Mods, disable them and restart the sim.
FYI, too many trees in Iceland is bug-logged. @GimbalAxis mentions BIKF in post #7:
I tried to land at Kevlavik, using Google Maps, and the whole airport was in the forest.
If I run without the mods, I do not get the correct scenery, right?
Hi @AmpleTiger97620,
Correct - even if you uninstall any mods that change the default Icelandic scenery, you will still see a lot more trees around parts of Iceland than there should be, as per the bug report.
If you’re on PC, this will help the tree situation in Iceland:
https://flightsim.to/file/15160/iceland-no-more-trees-except-reykjavik-sector
(Not that this doesn’t need to be fixed in the main MS data, but the this should help in the meantime.)
I have had this mod, but not active. After moving it into the Community folder, the trees around KEF are really gone. But MSFS Update 15 should not have such bugs.
Thanks a lot. Tried RealWeather flight today, but low ceiling and strong winds prevented any sightseeing.
I planned a 777 flight which would have worked out given the runway length of over 10,000ft and low elevation and temperatures.
However after spending much time setting up simbrief, msfs shadow flight plan and aircraft, we struck the wingtip on trees when taxiing to the runway. What a farce given that in real life, such trees dont exist. A perfect example of AI messing up and also loading the RAM with more workload than needs be.
Other examples being excessive trees on exposed rocks in coastal areas at low tide.
