Key binding for moving free in the cockpit and switching from fixed view to cockpit?[1/2 Solved]

Hi everyone,

I searched for this but I couldn’t find a solution, please close the topic and navigate me if there is one already.

My question is I can’t move freely in the cockpit by using arrows in the keyboard. I set a key for Toggle Cockpit View Freelook(HOLD) but that didn’t help either. What’s the key binding for this?

Another question is when I’m in one of fixed cameras how to switch back to the cockpit immediately without always clicking the camera from the toolbar menu.

Key bindings are called ‘Decrease Cockpit View Height’, ‘Increase Cockpit View Height’, ‘Translate Cockpit View Backward’ and ‘Translate Cockpit View Forward’. There are some intuitive keys pre-assigned but you can certainly change them.

Oh … and for the ‘switch back to cockpit’ … assign a joystick button to “Reset Cockpit View”

Moving free in the cockpit is done thanks to you ! :slight_smile:

But I still can’t change from a fixed view to the cockpit and the key bindings are already assigned :frowning:

Well … I see that you have the same assignments for 2 functions. Try clearing the assignments (CTRL-SPACE and F) for “Reset External View” and see if that works! :slight_smile:

Unfortunately it didn’t :frowning: Reset Cockpit View only works for instance if I move right in cockpit and reset back to the default position back then it works perfectly fine but it won’t switch from a fixed view to cockpit :frowning:

Try removing key assignment ‘F’ for “Reset Cockpit View” and leaving ‘F’ only for “Reset Fixed Camera” and see if that works. Use CTRL-SPACE for switching to Cockpit and F for Fixed Camera. Having the same key assigned to multiple functions definitely messing the sim up.

Thank you so much @MBrowne99, I removed every key bindings overlapping each other so I only left CTRL-SPACE for resetting cockpit and F for fixed camera but still from the fixed cam can’t turn back to the cockpit, this is so annoying :smiley:

Hmmmm … :thinking: … the only other advice I can offer is maybe use “Cockpit & External View Mode” (toggles external to internal and is END key by default) and THEN hit CTRL-SPACE to centre cokpit view. Hope you figure something out.

Thank you so much for your effort @MBrowne99 , I really appreciate it. It did switch to external view from custom view (I guess because I wasn’t on the window seat anymore :smiley: ) but from there CTYL-SPACE navigated to the landing gear view. Anyways maybe someone else can help :slight_smile:

In my case I have a key assigned to “COCKPIT/EXTERNAL VIEW MODE”. I use this to toggle my view between cockpit view and external view mode.
Another key I have assigned to: “TOGGLE DRONE”. I use this to toggle between cockpit and drone mode (free view).

Maybe something similar works for you as well?

This is the binding I use too. If you switch to the drone and then press this bind it will switch to the fixed camera.

You can then select a fixed view of choice and then pressing the toggle drone bind will take you back to the cockpit and then back to fixed view.
