I was very biased about FS 2020. Happy about the fact there was a new FS. Down about the functionality. To setup my HOTAS and other panel pheriphals took hours away. Just to find out what contoller option would activate a function in the game…to learn all workarounds in planes, all cam views, refining controls… Then it happenend after an update: track ir malfunctioned as a bug in FS. I stopped playing the game. And now, after one and a half month Asobo has fixed the track IR function. I started up the game again and oh my…i need to setup all my controllers from start and you know what…i just cant be bothered going through the whole freakin proces again…to learn all the workarounds in the game with controllers and airplanes, playing until the next breaking bug appears. It was a nice try. I’ll stick with DCS.
Whatever the game simulator or whatever you should always recalibrate settings after any major update. However if you saved a profile in controllers rather than just editing the default then it should still be there.
Strange… plugging in the X52 HOTAS took 2 seconds and 99% of all functions and keys were already pre-bound - just the flaps trim and gear buttons had to be modified.
I dont know Ive done some reinstall’s only to have my controller profile wiped out, and other times when its still there. Same thing happens with updates, but after you set up your controllers 10 times or so you get to start knowing what commands need to go where ;p
All - Since I have buttons configured on my VFX JS, to things important to me. I created a list of which button does what and printed it off. Then If I have to reconfigure, I have the list and button number already down, so all I have to do is put the info back in the game.
FWIW-After SU6, Honeycomb would not work reinstalled drivers, it then worked, same after SU7, but worked out of the gate this time no issues. I know 50% of my gray hair is the frustrations from this game.
I didn’t know you could edit a default profile. Whenever I’ve tried in the past (before I knew better) it’s prompted me to save it as a new profile.
I have saved over the default, and created my own -and didnt have this issue at all.
Did you unplug your HOTAS in the meantime? I know that sometimes that hotplug messes up things.
And I always keep a backup of my control profile - to drop in if I need… just like I have for DCS.
Maybe presumptuous on my part but having never edited a default profile I can’t really say.
