When I went to use this aircraft this morning I noticed that an update was available to 1.5.7. I did this and updated the aircraft. Now what is strange is if I download and install as it was before the update, when I select the aircraft and go to an airport none of the exterior shows just the interior with dashboard/instruments etc. The actual exterior of the whole aircraft is missing. Now here’s the strange bit, if I go back to simply streaming it, even with the update it works fine??? Anyone come across this problem, like I said its purely when I download and install the problem manifests itself??
I downloaded the update and have the same problem. I deleted the plane and all files that were left behind on my PC and tried again, but that didn’t help. I did notice that the amphibious liveries work. I’ll try some other stuff later, but I doubt we can do anything other than to write it up which I can’t do because I’m leaving for a few hours.
I am also having the same problem. I tried the same solutions (uninstall, remove files, reinstall). And the same issue(s) (cannot see the airframe of the standard Kodiak, can easily see the pontoon version). I am doing the same solution: streaming only. I hope this issue is fixed soon, as the Kodiak is my go-to plane.
I hope it’s fixed too, it’s one of my favorites!! I guess I’ll uninstall now although I always prefer to have my favorites installed in my “virtual hangar”!
Log bugged? Erm…Bug logged?
I’m getting the same problem: When streamed, the plane looks fine. If I download it to local storage, then the 3d model is missing except for the interior of the cabin.
I’ve also noticed that converting back from downloaded to streamed leaves a sound file behind, and that I get an install failure if I haven’t cleaned up from previous install attempt.
I’ve written this up as a Bug Report thread:
May 2026… I upgraded my Kodiak 100 aircraft from FS2020 to FS2024 through the marketplace and the upgrade is either incomplete or the model itself is flawed. I see no control surface articulation, cockpit controls as simple as fuel control valves are now INOP, chocks and covers can’t be removed, etc.
Tried contacting SimWorks but they never answer my inquiry nor do I ever see a ticket created - yet I’ve uploaded all the info I have to them.
Anybody have any other ideas?? Does anything the previous posters have done work? Plane flies OK, just looks ugly and it’s annoying when you can’t see control surfaces move or remove chocks and covers. I’ve tried installing it, uninstalling/streaming it, nothing helps. No problem with other aircraft. FS2020 version worked decently in FS2024 but I thought an upgrade would be better - guess not!
John
Seem to remember some posts about conflicts if the 2020 model isn’t removed fully. Not sure though as I didn’t have any issues on Xbox.
There’s a mega thread on the Kodiak that combined various other threads. Might be worth checking that out.
Thanks for the tip.
Seems like the best I can do is uninstall/disable the FS2020 version in my library which I’ve done. I also tried enabling it but that does nothing. I’m think maybe I should reinstall FS2020 and see what happens?? At least in FS2020, the model worked overall, just stalled at too high a speed.
Tried re-enabling the FS2020 version and it disabled the 2024 version so that’s a no-go.
How about just buying the full version from SimWorks directly - and eat the upgrade cost, of course - I wonder how how badly that would confuse MS…
Watch out, IIRC there is also the AI traffic model in your library, so do you actually have disabled the correct 2020 version?
Disabled the right one, then I discovered I can allegedly have both versions enabled but only the FS2024 model shows up in the aircraft selection window.
This is getting annoying when Simworks won’t respond and they’re the only source for the Kodiak. Tried a night flight last night and the landing lights won’t turn off which makes night flying difficult - lights don’t do much on landing as it turns out - the FS2020 model is much better if only the flight model was better.
I still might bite the bullet and buy the full download directly from them, probably screw up everything but that may be my only solution.
Had a LOOONG, unplleasant set of emails with SimWorks this week (May 18+). First and foremost, I bought their Kodiak 100 download when the streamed version failed on so many fronts (see above). In short, another $40 wasted. After they finally got their support webpage “working”, I was able to send them my info. Couple days later, I got an email saying a response was waiting for me on the support page. Nope, nothing there, so I sent them images of the page, plus the fact I get indications the page is trying to load something from the top menu, gives up and the page basically goes dead. Today, SimWorks informs me the ticket is closed.
Ok, so if they won’t help I’ll try to dig out the problem myself. I’m suspecting file namelength issues since I can install to a dummy desktop file with no error messages. Installing to Community drops errors after installing ~2Gb of the 6+Gb file. Installing to Community2024 quits after only 124Mb or so. But I can copy the dummy desktop installation to either Community or Community2024 and I get the same results as the streamed version - chocks and covers can’t be removed, many controls and switches don’t work, no control surface articulation.
So, if the model actually doesn’t have the faults mine has, and others have a working version, is it a full pathname issue as I suspect? Any way around it?
Doesn’t appear to be a Windows 11 issue since I can copy the files to the Community folder, just not run them there but Windows sees them OK. Asobo or SimWorks at fault?
Other aircraft are fine, BTW.
Yes, some Windows installations have a deeply buried setting that limits the full pathname to 255 characters.
The trivial workaround is just to install to a working folder, then manually move that folder into your Community directory.
I’d also suggest just moving Community outside of it’s silly default location, and put it somewhere like D:\Games\MSFS2024. That will eliminate future path name problems, and make it easier to find for any other stuff you’d like to do in the Community folder in the future.
After a couple of weeks of fiddling, I rediscovered what you posted above! I moved the Community and associated folders to C:\FS (can’t get much shorter than that!), disabled the streamed version of the Kodiak, and re-installed the kodiak in the new community folder. Installed fine - obviously this time! - but nothing has changed. Still have all the issues I mentioned so it seems to me my first update to the FS2020 model I bought years ago is somehow corrupted something. There must be some leftovers even after I disabled the streamed version AND the FS2020-updated versions. And I’m guessing my only alternative is to uninstall/reinstall FS2024 to c:\FS and hope for the best - repair didn’t do anything and reset is about as painful as reinstalling. Hate to have to do all that but I’m not expecting anything from SimWorks to solve the problem on their end.
I think the only reliable solution is to re-install FS2024 from scratch. I installed it on an old (my original FS2020 system (with a now subpar GPU) and the Kodiak looks fine now that I installed FS2024 to c:\FS. The folders in Limitless are all links, symbolic apparently, so now onto the FlightSim PC! Wish me luck!
I can’t get the tables to unfold in the fancy interior version (summit?). anyone know how to do it. i think i remember them opening in 2020
update: also, the ‘pulse’ lights don’t seem to be working. they are the same as landing lights as far as i can tell?
No idea about the table but the lights are wonky. Taxi lights seem to be OK but I can’t seem to reliably turn off the landing lights - sometimes I can get them off, usually stuck ON. Light LVARS don’t work either…
Update. Downloaded and Installed the Kodiak on a fresh Windows 11 and fresh msfs2024. Lot of items were not clickable or movable with the mouse. Deleted the download and chose the streaming option, everything in working order now.
Hi, I think there’s a problem with the aircraft. After landing, the aircraft becomes uncontrollable, pulling to the right on the taxiway. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
