Hallo friends,
There are two versions for KPVD. There is a comparison for those 2 on Contrail but i can’t descide which one is best…
Any advise about this?
Thanx!

Thanks for the link. Dreamflight’s version looks a bit better (noticeably better inside and some ground textures look more realistical to me). I own the IniBuild’s rendition but I think I’ll stay with that - it’s not that much of a difference.
Same here. Already have the one from ini.
But if I were to choose now I would pick the Dreamflight one.
Dreamflight’s one is very very good. I got it yesterday and wasn’t disappointed! Check out Practically Geek on Youtube. He did an amazing review!
I’m in agreement that those of us with the Ini version needn’t bother ‘upgrading’. If I had neither, I would likely choose Dreamflight’s but there are certainly areas in which Ini did a better job. Obviously if you’re still using FS2020 you’ve only the DF option. They’re more similar than they are dissimilar — DF definitely have the edge with fine detail placement but the cargo/GA area looks better in Ini’s. Not sure who got the terminal interior flooring right — it couldn’t be more different! Ini made an actual site visit (maybe DF did too?) but things could have changed in three months!
I’m not sure if I like the static Patriots 763 in DF’s. Nice to have on your first flight in there but the novelty might soon wear off. Perhaps you can toggle it on/off?
Fly2High is a good option for 2020. They were the first to take the plunge - and this was before FSE25 where folks probably even realized RI had a major airport. ![]()
I’ve had bad experiences with Fly2, and KPVD is one of their earlier works. If it’s anything like their other stuff, it shouldn’t be in the running at all since the Dreamflight release.
No collisions when using the drone camera in the terminal with DF’s KPVD unlike some parts of ini’s.
The airport has actually been renovated recently, as you can see in this video. Unlike Inibuilds, Dreamflight has obviously modelled the latest version. Perhaps this explains the long wait for the release. I also looked at some comparison photos on Google Maps, and the terminal buildings are closer to reality in the Dreamflight Version, both inside and out. I own the Inibuilds version and am happy with it. Nevertheless, I will eventually get the Dreamflight version as well, as I am a big fan of their Jackson Hole Airport.
It’s just a shame that Dreamflight didn’t communicate when their version would be released. I only got the Inibuilds version three weeks ago. I would have liked to have waited… Because even though both are great sceneries, in my opinion Dreamflight is ahead.
I went for the Dreamflight. It looks really nice!!!
Not sure why, but F2H has struggled to develop for 2024. Like you said, their 2020 products aren’t terrible by any stretch, but their 2024 releases have been terrible. Horrible performance in 2024… KTUL is a prime example but yet it works perfectly fine in 2020.
I have now also purchased the Dreamflight version. I think both versions clearly have the edge in certain aspects. From what I have seen, the Dreamflight version is more accurate in terms of the terminal building, which is particularly noticeable in the proportions and details. When comparing it with Google Maps photos, for example, you can see that there is a kerb around the terminal, which is completely missing in Inibuilds version. Other details are also more accurate in Dreamflight when compared to real photos. The interior looks much better, especially the textures, the beautifully modelled shops and the windows with great views outside. When compared to Dreamflight, one weakness of Inibuilds’ scenery is particularly noticeable, namely the very short OLOD distance. Unfortunately, this bothers me in all Inibuilds scenery. While in the Dreamflight version you can still see cars on the horizon, in Inibuilds’ version, cars simply disappear at a distance of about 400 metres.
So is the Dreamflight version clearly better? No. One clear advantage of the Inibuilds version are the beautifully modelled edges and outer areas of the airport with restaurants, modelled roads and warehouses. Whereas the Dreamflight version has long used standard photogrammetry, Inibuilds has modelled many more details, which significantly enhances the approach. The cargo/GA area also looks better in the Inibuilds version.
Which version you prefer depends largely on your own preferences. I think Dreamflight looks better from the cockpit perspective, although the approach is slightly nicer with Inibuilds. If you like interior, you should definitely go for the Dreamflight version. I have to say that I would love to have a combination of both sceneries. The result would be perfect!
Incidentally, I couldn’t detect any differences in performance. But I do have a very powerful PC.
In the screenshots, the first image is always Inibuilds and the second Dreamflight.
Edit: If you’re flying in MSFS 2020, there’s only one choice, of course – Dreamflight.
I was totally happy with Ini, it’s a wonderful airport but DF comes out ahead in my book. Since KPVD is my home airport in RL, I’m going to grab DF tonight. As noted above, if you could add in some of Ini’s off-airport visuals into DF’s product, I think you might have the best add-on airport in MFSF!
I’m really disappointed about the Patriot’s 767 sitting on an active taxiway, not moving. In RL, if the jet is local, it’s parked on an open section of ramp over by the economy parking lot. Having it just sitting idle on a taxiway is a huge immersion killer to me. If it turns out, you can’t toggle it off, I think I’ll pass on DF’s version.
I can’t comment on that because I don’t know the airport myself. But the Dreamflight product description states that the 767 would also be there in real life, and I read elsewhere in a post by Dreamflight that the taxiway is closed.
Incidentally, I deliberately chose screenshots above that show aspects other than the contrail comparison. This could now give the impression that the Inibuilds version is better. But that’s not the case. The advantages of the Dreamflight version mentioned above (interior and more accurate modelling of the terminal) are already visible on Contrail. That’s why I wanted to highlight the advantages of the Inibuilds version. Overall, there is no clear winner for me. But I myself will probably leave the Dreamflight version installed.
In addition to the above, here are a few comparisons of night lighting and one of OLOD distance. There are actually cars in the Inibuilds car park, but you can’t see them from a certain distance. The popping of objects in Inibuilds’ sceneries bothers me a lot because it greatly reduces immersion, especially during approaches.
In general, however, I would like to emphasise once again that both sceneries are great. No matter which one you choose, you will definitely get a fantastic airport!
Here too, Inibuilds above and Dreamflight below.

You might be correct. Maybe they have relocated Pat Force 1 from it’s previous parking space on the open ramp south of the terminal to the newly closed taxiway.
They addressed this complaint on their social media and the taxiway is indeed closed and parking for the 763 (when it’s in town) has been relocated.
I took the plunge and purchased this one. Very happy with it. Any idea if it includes a GSX profile?
On a related note, noted yesterday that incoming jets to RWY 5 did a 180 as soon as they touched down and departed the runway at the approach end of 5 instead of further down the runway. I’m running BATC for AI traffic, don’t know if this is an issue with them or DF. Never saw that happen with the Ini version….
Thank you all for the comparison shots and the kind words, we really appreciate it. I just wanted to clarify that the Patriots 767 was relocated because of ongoing construction in the south area of the airport near the parking lots. In real life, several more taxiways are closed, but we knew that replicating all of them would cause issues for some users, so we decided to close only Taxiway V. You can verify this in the real airport NOTAMs: https://notams.aim.faa.gov/notamSearch/nsapp.html#/
As you can see, our goal wasn’t to match every feature offered by other scenery options. Instead, we focused on delivering a strong sense of immersion from the pilot’s perspective. Every version out there has its strengths, and each one offers something unique for different types of users.
We also planned to include a few buildings outside the airport perimeter, but we moved that to a future update since Hooters and All-Stars Bar & Grill are now closed in real life. For this release, our priority was making the airport perimeter and terminal interior as accurate as possible. If you fly there in person, you’ll notice the carpet is currently being removed and that’s reflected in the scenery. You’ll also see that all shops and restaurants are recreated just as they appear in real life, along with many other details we could keep listing.
In the end, its all down to the features each user looks for in a scenery. Some people like our style, some don’t and that is totally fine/acceptable.
Thank you all for your support!
