If I were a betting man, I would put money on the fact that this entire debacle has been caused by a far more expensive suit or team of expensive suits than Jorge or the asobo team could ever afford.
The expensive suit says " launch before xmas, we got xboxs to sell".
Another expensive suit says " i called it FS2024 and you WILL launch in 2024".
Jorge salutes and says “sir, yes sir”. He has no choice.
The excrement hits the high rpm object and another expensive “communications specialist” suit steps in and says " Jorge, you deal with this exactly as I tell you to".
Jorge…" Sir, yes sir".
Jorge knew it was not ready.
Asobo knew it was not ready.
The expensive suits knew it was not ready. The expensive suits pack virtual .45s and are quick to point them at subordinates heads. Indeed that is how they became expensive suits.
Pointing the finger at Jorge and Asobo is not really fair. The launch debacle, yes Jorge and Asobo dropped the ball there, but the ongoing problems, no.
If you need someone to villify, i would wager that a look towards the marketing and PR suits at microsoft would be a good place to start.
Or sit back, be patient and let it slowly become better.
It is a terrible situation for customer and team alike. Just be aware of who is responsible. Jorge as head of FS2024 is responsible, but is he really to blame?
I have in a previous life, sat in a job with full accountability, but without sufficient authority and it is not a good place to be.
