I’m not disagreeing with you on that - the sim released very close to major holidays, so that doesn’t help anything at all. Just because some of the team did take time off for their families doesn’t mean we don’t care about the sim though - you can bet that things were still in motion the whole month. And with most people back now everyone is as focused as ever - and refreshed - something everyone needs.
Yes Jummivana, hope your holidays & everyone else’s at Msobo were good. But yes, 2024 was not very enjoyable over break, still many issues for PC and Xbox; where I am. I have reported bugs & wishlist items, doing my part. But some things I am hoping to learn more about are:
- X box X performance improvements- blurry textures, stuttering, slow loading
- 2024 marketplace launch?
- when will the new urban areas TIN, Aerials, photogrametry come? I was told it was delayed from mS support. re the images Jorg showed at the Global Event showed that the US would essentially come with new imagery. But my home town area looks the same in satellite ground images & 3d photogrametry lacking.
- when will we get all of our 2020 content; most liveries and some sceneries are still either not appearing at all (fly Tampa Vegas), or still marked “Not Available Disabled” despite some packages working in November. eg KDPA
- the UI menu navigation is poor, please bring back the white circle cursor icon to be visible always. I can not find a way at all to navigate in the control bindings page.
Thanks
I think the current state of things warrants something other than ‘normal’ development blog updates.
I don’t think all this commotion is warranted at all, aside from maybe Xbox users and helicopter pilots. I’ve been flying on MSFS2024 on a daily basis without any major issues aside from the white screen bug with the iniBuilds, and there is a workaround for this bug on PC. Do I think the development team needs to test updates more thoroughly before releasing them? Yes. The last two updates have caused significant issues (career mode, iniBuilds bug).
Do I think this absolute rubbishing of MS/Asobo is valid? No. People are treating this like it’s Big Rigs Over the Road Racing and it’s way over the top. This is a flawed product, yes, but it’s also a wonderful one if you look past the teething issues. And it’s in a very playable state, at least when it comes to fixed-wing aircraft on PC, which has always been the bread and butter of the MSFS franchise. If it wasn’t playable, I and countless other people wouldn’t be playing it daily.
The blog posts and updates are coming as soon as this week, as the community manager kindly pointed out, so chill out a bit and let them cook.
Thanks for answering that Jummivana. ![]()
I haven’t noticed this.
Perhaps I have been too distracted by the abominal reflections in several planes:
One step forwards, two steps back.
A lot of parents bought the sim for their children as a christmas gift only for them to be dissapointed since it was far from what was advertised. The family argument goes both ways ![]()
The problem wasn’t the lack of development blogs. It was the total silence. If you didn’t plan on any comms it would have been better to include this info. Being as direct as possible is the best thing you can do with the curent state of the sim and the anger of the community. Also a roadmap of the plans and priorities going forward would go a long way.
You can add VR users, it’s pretty rough
It goes against common sense to expect any official communication during the holiday season. As for the current state of the sim, it can’t be that bad—my son was playing it the whole Christmas! Together, we explored the entire Alps in the Edgley Optica, and it was absolutely stunning!
Then you were among the lucky ones. It also depends how and what you play.
As far as I know the holidays in France don’t last from 19.12-6.1. but I could be wrong. Considering Jummivana said some of the team took time of that would mean that some were still working which would mean there was no reason for the complete silence.
Common sense would also dictate to not release a product that is at best an early access version. If they really had to release before the holiday they could have released as early access and lowered the price. If they did 90% of the anger would not happen since we would know the sim is far from finished.
The practice of releasing faulty products has to stop. Either lower the price and release as early access or actually finish the game and then release.
It’s been almost a week since holiday season ended. Just saying…
Bad assumption – People working during that time are most likely the least senior, and certainly not the communications people. They are coders coding. Much like I described above in my longer post about what a coder really does, and misconceptions about how large companies run their shops.
Think about it, when you were at a job where you couldn’t get holidays off, were you a senior at that job? Were you expected to communicate to the world on behalf of the company? No, you’re the lowest man who got last pick on the calendar.
We’ve all been there before ![]()
In 1 company I worked at I had to run a store and handle social media so actually yes
But my education is pharmacy so maybe that’s why I have a different view on this sutiation since I don’t have the option of giving a faulty medicine. If I do there are legal consequences.
If they really wanted care free holiday they should not have released such a faulty game. If you release something so faulty you will be expected to fix it even if it means working longer and on days you otherwise wouldn’t.
This post only about the radio silence. Nobody demanded them to work on holidays. But you can’t tell me not one of the comms people couldn’t post something that would take them 2min to write. There were also quite a lot of working days since their last official comms.
It’s not as if people have cell phones or anything.
Monday Jan 6 was public Holiday also in France. Think asobo only returns to the office today from Xmas holidays.
Thats 100% for everyone, Hope refreshing is not only related to holidays, as this is the only way the sim can move from bug priorities to features priorities In Sim updates, especially those already existed & was strangely and badly “canceled”? for 2024.

My personal refreshment process is to follow up on sim updates only, & look for specific features that has been discarded “to save some time in development before launch”, then only to jump back into the sim & engage with it (Balance between interest & caring to ultimately have a good experience despite the bad scenarios)
.
Some of these comments are now verging on the ridiculous
Career mode has been a complete shambles since release. The issues which appeared at the new year have only made it worse.
As far as I’m aware there hasn’t been anything mentioned about why no night missions are available, or the critical problems which make many SAR missions impossible to complete. Things like the insurance system also don’t work at all. That’s just some of the most obvious problems off the top of my head.
It’s inconceivable that such issues weren’t known about before release, so no acknowledgement of them in the - almost - two months since then is very worthy of criticism.
