Landing Challenge Skyline Idaho 1ID9 - current changed version - how?

Hello there,
trying to cleanup my open landing challenges.
Skyline Idaho 1ID9 was known to be one of the hardest, therefore had it open.
Visiting it now, it looks different than before: it is flat and not on a hill anymore, and actually quite possible to land.

But … currently every landing at the blue rectangle tells me I’ve missed the designated runway.

Has anyone tried this successfully recently? Hints welcome

Before I try the challenge, is this what you’re seeing now? I’ve never seen it previously, so not sure how it looked previously.
Regards

Yes that how it is looking for me. Some time ago it wasn’t flat but a longer stretched, narrow hill

Well first try I got the “wrong runway” too. The second try I landed successfully (although a horrible score!). There wasn’t much difference between the two landing, other than I made sure I was right on the runway heading all the way through the runout and landed with a very low airspeed. But if you’d seen me, you’d have thought the two landings were the same. So it seems VERY touchy on some fine points. But it was on the runway indicated in the mission description (unlike at least one other challenge!).
I’ll try a few more times later and see if I can see anything that’s causing one to work and the other to fault.

I tried multiple flights into 1ID9 in the challenge, and got mixed results. I had two “landings”, one said 1ID9 and the other said 1ID9 Vicinity (but recorded as a landing. I had three that actually logged as a takeoff from there! (bounces???). I had one challenge flight that again, logged as wrong runway.

I finally took a 172 and flew in normal mode into the airport to get a good visual of the landing. It logged as a valid landing. The challenge landings that logged as vicinity ended up near the buildings. The last one that logged correctly, I was absolutely straight down the runway and ended on the runway. So if the wind is pushing you off to any side, it logs vicinity or possibly wrong runway.
It’s very touchy on any variation from straight down the runway, and stopping on the runway.

Thanks a lot for your efforts. So it’s actually possible, but very badly designed. I guess it got even worse due to terrain height changes.
So I’ll give it some more tries then :flight_arrival:

I tried it plenty of times and always got that I hadn’t landed on the designated runway. But then I got a tiny bit better at landing taildraggers so I retracted the flaps as soon as I landed and pulled up elevator to keep the tail on the ground before slamming on the brakes. I think I got a C for it as it wasn’t great but I think the issue is that the runway according to the challenge is very very short so if you stop beyond what it thinks is the runway then it fails the challenge

Nanwallek is the other one I just can’t get an A for. Watching a video of someone getting an A it seems as though the centreline for that runs from the touchdown marker into the grass on the right hand side of the runway. If you hold the actual centreline you’ll get a C every time
