Landscape Seasons effect view distance

Hello there,
after having dumped career mode and now properly doing free-flights in FS2024, I noticed an effect about seasons that I haven’t seen discussed yet.

It seems to me, that there is clearly a "viewing distance" for the seasonal effect. And this distance is currently much too low.
This is especially noticeable in external view.

See following screenshot in winter without snow at 15.000ft.
Notice the brown/grey landscape near the aircraft.
The further you look away, the “greener” (=no winter effect) it gets.
This effect seems to move with the plane, converting the standard green landscape into winter colors.

Have you guys also noticed this?
I find it quite annoying now that I realized it.

it all looks pretty brown to me. if it is green to your eyes, then maybe at the distance, because pixels are no smaller than the ones in the foreground, then there is probably color bleed. but I dont see it. Nothing to write home to Mom about anyway

Thanks for the feedback. The screenshot does not show too well what I mean.
I’ve zoomed in an marked the areas below.
close to the plane = brown winter scenery
further away = green standard (summer) scenery

Still wondering how noone except me is annoyed by this

Today’s flight in the SU2 beta had it extremely obvious again, so I took 2 more screenshots to demonstrate.
The brown season is moving together with the plane; everything further away is green and turns brown as you come closer.

You can see the split line on screenshot 1
Screenshot 2 shows the orange marked area after coming closer. First it’s green, then it’s brown

I’m not yet giving up on this, as just now in SU2 flying over England (live time/weather) I just had an extremely obvious example of the issue.

See how all fields are brown on the bottom of the screenshot (which is around the aircraft).
See how all fields are green further away from that.
And this transition moves with the plane.
Just awful.

Still wondering how nobody can be disappointed by this scenery issue, therefore I’m feeding another example as of today in SU3 version.

Fields close to the aircraft: colored mostly brownish

Fields further away: all greenish

Were you ever able to find a fix for this? I just bought some UK scenery, and everything is brown around my aircraft, while green and lush in the distance. It does not seem to matter what time of year. When slewing, you can see this effect very pronounced.

Must be a LOD issue with Asobo’s color-correcting technique. As they have mentioned previously, the new seasonal maps feature color-correction and this must be related to that. Imo, this bug means they cut some corners by only filtering the LOD0 tiles, and everything below that (meaning any terrain outside your highest Terrain LOD ring) remains green as the aerial pictures in Bing Maps show.

Very poor impression, but I completely understand why they didn’t have time to filter the other LODs: they were rushing to make the poorly-picked Nov 19 date set by the heads at MS.

Maybe for the next sim they’ll have learned a few lessons and not announce release dates until they have the final product in their hands. Good decision 10/10 times.

I don’t think there is any “fix” in sight, as it’s - for some reason - not really recognized as an issue by the community. Maybe the highest TLOD settings can improve this, haven’t tested that as I need to stick at about TLOD 200 with my 5800X3D 7900XTX anyways.

As of SU4, the issue still remains unchanged, see today’s flight over France at about 5000ft. Aircraft surrounding ground is brown, everything further away is green.

See related report: Green fields turning brown as you approach them

Thanks, yes it’s the same issue. I’ve linked my post there.
