Latest Nvidia driver 528.02 turned on DX12

I’m updating this thread. Originally this driver caused much havoc on my system and I now see that the reason is because when it was installed, Flight Simulator automatically tells itself to use Direct X 12, yes it changed settings all by itself in the sim. DX12 has yet to be a good experience for me. Switched back to DX11 and all is good again.

528.02 seems to be working fine here.

Could be just with the 4000 series cards I don’t know but it just wreaked havoc. Reverted back to the early December driver and as soon as I switched to VR mode it crashed. Wound up bouncing around between the last three drivers and the one just before latest I finally got it to re-halfway-stabilize. Still crashed after my short flight but at least I got a flight in that time. Prior to this January 5th driver that I just downloaded tonight it was doing ok. I sure regret putting it on!

I have a 4090 on a 5800X3D rig and 528.02 works fine for me with a G2 headset. Maybe use Display Driver Uninstaller and reinstall it then.

It sounds like you might benefit from a system cleanup and DDU before reinstalling the driver

Downloaded and installed it and flew with it last two nights, no issues seen. Win11(latest), 3090.

I’ve always struggled with VR on my modest RTX2060, but oddly enough the 528.02 driver has actually improved performance for me in VR. Sounds like you may have had a bad install maybe?

Well these are very disappointing replies ha ha! I was hoping to hear that it caused problems for everybody so that NVidia would have to create a replacement. I am on the very latest build and feature pack of Windows 11. Anyone else completely up to date with Windows 11 and running this new driver with no problems?

Working fine here on latest W11 and a 4090

Maybe try redownloading the driver and installing it again. I’ve had a similar issue with an Nvidia driver in the past, and it turned out to be a borked installation due to an incomplete download. I mean it’s just an outside chance, but you never know your luck.

Have a look in Nvidia Control panel > help > system info, check the driver numbers match up. Outside chance that this will prove fruitful but worth a try.

No issues here with 528.02 in pancake or VR.

528.02 working like a clockwork for me. I even think that the performance is better than the previous drivers.

i9-10980HK, RTX 2080 Super, Win 11

Have you the Open XR toolkit installed?

No issues for me with the new driver.
I9-13900, 64 GB RAM, 4090, M2 SSD, Aero, Win 10, most FS settings maxed out.

Works fine on my old jalopy. i7-3930K, 32gb ram, RTX 2060, 3 monitors

I updated the original post. Installation of this driver caused flight sim to switch to DX12 which has never worked well. Switched it back to dx11 and all is good. It did crash to desktop with nvwgf2umx.dll on my first flight though which is an Nvidia library. At least it’s not doing the crazy things it was doing with DX12 once I switched to back to DX11.

Fine for me. Better than the last one. Only issue is that it switched MSFS to DX12. Just switched it back to DX11. On a 4090 and i912900k

Using Windows 11 latest updates and Nvidia 528.02 driver…works well it seems…no problems noted as of yet.

Right. This is what I ultimately found out was the problem with mine.
