On the flip side, PMDG releases multiple variants with their releases. TDFI is planning for the MD-11 to have several variants. The MD-83 is the same airframe as the MD-82, just with better engines and additional fuel tanks. The only change to the cockpit is to add the fuel handling. The MD-88 is the same airframe as the MD-82 with better engines and a glass cockpit. The MD-82 was already $85. Now adding another $30 puts it at $115, whereas with PMDG, I get mutliple variants for $70. The pricing model seems kind of excessively high, and $30 for what we get with this expansion seems steep as compared to any other MSFS aircraft.
Keep in mind, the MSFS population is 10 million now. That is more than any other flight sim ever. All prices from all vendors have adjusted accordingly except for Leonardo. I just don’t see this expansion as worth another $30 on top of the $85 I have already paid.
