No idea what’s going on, but their are some weird things happening with the installation after the new patch 1.2.7.0
First, the folder/game name Limitless isn’t used anymore but changed to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Old folder with Limitless gets updated but use the old name.
Second, after using the patch on my ‘Limitless’ install and deleting the folders/files in Localapps it removed the LOCK on all files.
Third, after uninstalling 2024 and clean install it is now named Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and uses LOCKS again!!
Fourth, after deleting the Localsapps folder it again made the folder and files without a lock!!
Why is it such a mess? And how are we sure it is now working as it should be?
You can always test the loading speed if you delete the AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe folder. You can backup your user.cfg to copy it back afterwards, so you have your cache and graphics settings back. The folder will be recreated when loading the sim.

It probably removes the folder when uninstalling. If it’s slow loading and has the locks after installing, you can always delete the whole folder and try again.
If the files are LOCKED, it should not be possible to delete them. Therefore, I am wondering how it was possible for you to delete files that are locked Out of curiosity, I checked my MSFS2024 installation and the files are not locked – I am using an administrator account on my system.
You can delete them, and you can also copy them. (using the explorer copy requires a extra step, because it will remove the lock on copy). It’s the same for 2020.
I also use admin account.
Thats why this topic was made, because it is unclear why it sometimes creates locked files on install and other times it doesn’t. Same for the Limitless foldername and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 foldername.
Edit: Just to be clear you checked the AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe folder right?
Yes, I have checked the folder where MSFS settings, camera configurations, cache files, etc. are stored. I was wondering if you used the “move” option to transfer MSFS2024 from the default XboxGames location to a different directory, partition or hard drive?
Odd, I did a reinstall on the 12th on this laptop and it still has a limitless folder. I also did a reinstall on my desktop, but I can’t check at the moment.
This kind of thing is worrying. How can this be happening? Wouldn’t a name change to the directory be an .exe-generated function or could that actually be defined as part of the streamed content?
If the latter, these undocumented (to us) changes are going to make an absolute mess of trying to determine who has had what changed to their install.
