ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: Closed airports and runways are being used!

ICAO, coordinates, or specific location: CYZD (Closed as of April 2024)

2. Land in closed airport or landing on runways with a big yellow X designating it’s closed status

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
The algorithm that creates missions in career mode doesn’t obey suitability of airports. For example I have a Cargo Mission from LFYK to EBFN.

Not only is a EBFN a military airbase therfore making it unlikely that a private civilian contractor from a different country would be allowd to deliver them cargo, LFYK is also a closed and has big fat yellow x’s on the runway. It is therefore unsuitable to be a starting point for a mission.

• Almost half of the missions have this or similiar bug. Similiar, because sometimes runways are so short, that plane like PC12 cant start or cant land there

Got myself another one here. KISZ closed back in 2012, career mission for Medium Cargo, ended up crashing in to the building at the parking and failing. No ATC support, even the game doesn’t recognize the runways in the ATC menu, EFB sat imagery which I’m guessing would be BING data shows no runway, but game still makes runway.

I would keep a list if I knew Asobo cared enough to fix it, otherwise I wouldn’t put any effort in reporting every closed airport.

KNUN in 2016/2017 was leased out for solar operations, again BING maps seems to show this, and the sim recognizes the closed status of the runways, but career mode still chooses these fields.

Same issue - but also happens on departure. I’ve been sent off of closed runways and in fact closed airports.

I’d recommending posting your issues in the thread below, if you haven’t already. It’s the most “official” list we have, I think. It is tagged with ‘feedback logged’ at least… but don’t hold your breath.

Hi All,

I have read through all the posts and can clearly see the incredible potential that career mode has, however there are some significant issues holding it back.

Once again today, I tried doing some career cargo and passenger VIP flights, but only found that most the flights in Europe keeps sending me from or to either Abandoned/closed airfields and Air Force Bases.

Has anyone else has this issue?

It would be really infesting to see what experience other people have had.

Yes, they generate higher mission payouts because you will find it difficult to plan either a destination or start airport for the flight planner to check your route. Also you have to be prepared to get a reputation hit because one or other airport will be in a restricted airspace.
