Not really an airstrip, more airport but still interesting for sure! Kelowna CYLW
Just fast forward a little bit.

Holy Moly - another cracker mate! Keep them coming.
Took me a few spirals around to even spot it, then I had to make 2 attempts to actually make it over the brow. You were not kidding about it being steep!! Don’t think I had the most appropriate plane for this haha
Here is a video:
By the way, did you observe the POI observatory near here?
Actually the whole Pyrenees is an area I really need to explore more. It’s really nice and interesting terrain.
I posted this elsewhere but it totally fits this thread. These are the only 2 mods this guy has done, but both are really great for interesting and challenging approaches and exits. All fantasy, so if that is not your bag sorry about that - but they are great fun!!
(second one is not actually Pyrenees, but just as cool!)
Here is a collection of abandoned and little-known airfields in the United States:
http://www.airfields-freeman.com/
One of my favorites from this resource is Swope Farm Airstrip (WV11), Fan Rock, West Virginia. It’s steep, it’s curved, and there’s only one way in or out.

The professionals get stuck too haha
This guy has a bunch of videos in really excellent strips. Converted the Robin to the tailwheel DR250 to do some stuff like his flying!
And yeah, those strips are very interesting, especially the Pyrenees ones. Not real strips, but a bunch of fun regardless. There’s lots of others to find in the area. I’ll add more as I revisit them.
Thanks for the review, great tip! Downloaded the tool and will try it out. What I like about it that it looks like what you would have on you in a real-life plane flight as a secondary navigation app on your phone when your airplane’s own avionics is older (as it is the case often when chartering privately owned or club-owned airplanes).
Next on my Alps list is LSVE Altiport de Croix de Coeur
It’s just a lot of fun, with some decent looking stuff to see, and an excellent view on takeoff!
It’s not 100% accurate, but it is a lot of fun!
Another cracker from Parorng! This is a great little one and nicely detailed up.
You are on a roll with these… more please! ![]()
You ask, I deliver.
Always love the Pyrenees and the Alps, this time from the Alps on the Swiss side.
These strips have been around for a while now, and still deliver today.
Up over 9000’ in altitude, so don’t forget to have that mixture set right back!
It’s a good one (well, three). My Willy got cold up there though!
My turn. Sure this has been mentioned before – and it’s Fantasy, but really fun!
Another one in my France series:
LFJD Corlier, south west of Geneva.
This place is a bunch of fun, and includes custom terrain and custom hangar.
When I first came here, there were windmills off to the side of the departure, and they still show on the preview pics of the download.
I haven’t seen windmills for a while now, so I’m not sure if they were there in error, or windmills have disappeared from my library for some reason. Actually, I haven’t seen any windmills for a while thinking about it. Anyone else?
Yeah, interesting. Even after a fresh install they were missing.
Might have to strip it right back and see if there’s a conflict or something…
I thought C53 Lower Loon Creek in Idaho was quite challenging to land on using the CAP10.
Milford sound in New Zealand is very fun.
The trees lining the runway are so close. Once up, depending on heading, you’ve gotta get from ~30ft to 10,000 feet or so to clear surrounding peaks.

In MSFS2002, there was also an airport I think in South America. It was situated deep inside a crater, and you had to circle within the crater to land or get out. Does anyone know airport I’m referrring to?
Just realised I’d missed a few newer releases on flightsim.to in my favourite area, the French Alps!
So here’s a few more suggestions!
This one might just be a new fun favourite for me, and it’s STEEP! Nothing the mighty DR-250 can’t handle though.
I think I’m missing a texture.
Update: wrong link, sorry guys! This is the one.
LF6953 Altisurface du Parasoir
Then this evening I just finished a quick flight with real weather. these strips are only a few minutes apart. I still don’t like the little nervous gusts live weather gives you, somehow it’s just not quite right…
So I started at F0725, Altisurface Le Bez, and liked it so much I came around for a quick landing and turn.
I’m not sure what is at the bottom of the strip, but it seems quite prominent. It would be nice to have it modelled.
I then departed for LF723, Altisurface de Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, a cute little camping spot amongst the rolling hills and paddocks.
I had a nice headwind for approach and landing (watch for downdrafts though!), which proved challenging for the little Capitaine on takeoff. Still we got airborne and headed north for our final stop today, LFHL Langogne Lesperon
As I approached at circuit altitude, I saw a flat strip and thought to myself ‘ahh, boring’. But the approach on this one made up for it, as well as being above 3500’ high.
On the ground there’s a few buildings modelled too (although that one lighter coloured custom building has its normals showing through it. I’ll message the dev.)
Soon The Capitaine was put to bed and time to socialise with the locals, ready for another one (probably tomorrow).
Seems like Altisurface de Bellegarde-en-diois, Die strip (LF53/LF2622) has been redone as well. Now I’m not sure which is more accurate, but the flat area to the hangar in my mind seems more realistic. Still one of my favourite Frenchy strips regardless of the flavour.
Another day, another quick flight.
This time starting from LF0553 (LF57), Altisurface de Colombe d’Eyguians. A bit of detail on this one, and the first animated horse that I’ve seen, although I haven’t been flying much.
Departing out to the north west towards LF0524 (LFTG) Grand Terrus for a quick stop in there.
LF0524 Altisurface Grand Terrus (LFTG) for Microsoft Flight Simulator | MSFS, with some interesting manoeuvring on base and final with either a close base, or a low approach over the hills on final.
Next stop was to Serres La Batie Montsaleon LFTM, a flat glider strip with a fun approach through the valley which I’m sure is not permitted IRL. Lots of stuff going on here though.
First approach the very scenic valley
Approach setup as you wind through its twists
Final approach as the strip comes into view
And a sharp turn to line up for landing.
After a touch and go I went back up again to have a nice look at the gliders.
And then headed north to finish up at LFNJ Aspres-sur-Buëch, which unfortunately doesn’t have any scenery on flightsim.to yet. Perhaps one of the Frenchy sites has it.
