Just spawned in to C08.
Altimeter is showing 8400ft. Cloud bottoms are 630ft.
Nearest METAR I can find is KALS.

Aircraft indicates 7540ft. Cloud bottoms reported at 4836ft.
At C08 the clouds were very much closer to the ground. So 630ft might be right for the first one but I’m not sure about this place. METAR shows OVC085, but I had to go up to 6821ft AGL to get into the cloud, or 14357ft. Maybe it really is reporting clouds bottoms as AGL? 7540+6394=13934, which is pretty close to which I saw when using slew mode.

It has to be AGL, it couldn’t possibly be MSL if the clouds were above an airport at that elevation.
So theoretically the “cloud bottom” (AGL) should match the reported bases in the METAR (also AGL), or at least in the ballpark.

Note also that the previous METAR at KALS was OVC060. Would be interesting to see whether the bases morph to the new height (085) over a certain period of time. Otherwise, we’d see an instantaneous shift upon receipt of the new METAR.
Also, interesting there’s no METAR in the sim at C08. One does exist there in real life. I was able to listen to the AWOS when I landed there in the sim on Wednesday night. Must not hit the EFB ingest list.
And the METAR at C08 at 1655 was BKN009 BKN012 OVC025. At 1755 it was FEW009 SCT013 OVC031
