Live Weather Does Not Match

North of Vienna, all airports report CAVOK and it’s clear and dry.
Nevertheless MSFS renders ground fog on a huge area (2026-05-25 16:45 UTC):

And in fact it does seem to realize the METARs report CAVOK which makes airports look like this:

The airport in the screenshot is Bratislava/Pressburg, according to meteoblue, visibility 20km all around it…

IMO live weather matching exactly what one sees outside is far less important than a plausible situation that looks good. Egregious discrepancies wrt visibility etc are another matter, but once the big picture is somewhat captured, how well the system is depicted is more important.

How many years until we have accurate live weather???

Unbelievable…

Luckily I have ASFS as a backup…

There has been several thunderstorms in west europe. Not a single one in Live Weather.

Idk what is going on but Live Weather should be together with performance bug fixing on the priority list rather than those silly dlc’s and useless little updates which only bring more bugs to the sim.

Outside of a metar still experiencing unlimited visibility regardless of weather conditions. Really an immersion killer that has never been addressed once from the release of MSFS 2020.

That’s true but not the topic here.
There’s a wishlist item to vote for:

Discovered that all rain / thunderstorm cells in some areas of western europe are not being displayed at the moment. I am pretty sure its a bug because Meteoblue etc. is showing everything.

Here are two clear examples:

First example:
Rain/TS cell 20.06 wandering from east germany over to poland, with Sigmet for TS up to FL420. Real world aircraft are all flying around the area.

Displayed on Vatsim / Meteoblue real world rain radar:

View outside in the sim just in front of the (real world) wx cell:
=> Nothing apart from some clouds

Second example:
Heavy cell above Düsseldorf (it was crazy, real world aircraft where completly avoiding the area doing crazy routings into Düsseldorf)

Another question: This thread has 1,3 k votes. Why is it not covered by the bugs list in development updates?

Because 1) this is marked as feedback-logged and not bug-logged, 2) it has both tags for msfs-2020 and msfs-2024, and the tracker in the updates filters out everything with the former

Hopefully the latter is just an issue with the graphic, and not something they actually follow; the former does mean, however, that this is not treated as a bug yet and is awaiting reproduction

why wont Asobo/msft acknowledge the issues with clouds/weather in this game. these images you show break my heart honestly, seeing how awesome and great weather was pre SU5 in FS2020 and how low it is come and absolutely 0 updates in the 6 years since the sim released. what is going on?

I bought strataWX which does help, and the devs are extremely active and involved in the community. but its still not what FS used to be…

I miss those clouds. Heartbreaking really to see how good it used to look for a few short months. I think they know they messed up and blatently now refuse to even acknowledge that clouds even exist in the sim.

There is another thread for that discussion, but I agree with you.

Convective activity around EDDM not present in live weather.

Currently flying around BDL, PVD, BOS, ACK… all showing pretty clear and this is what I’m seeing in the area. It was basically showing overcast at 1600 in the sim and heavy cloud cover… clearly IFR in the sim when everything in this area is VFR. Ridiculous…
