Really Asobo? Oh you depoyed a fix server side you say? Enough with the half baked testing and fix this!
Live weather currently not working for me either⦠1201Z time
Thatās actually messed up. I canāt believe they didnāt fix it. I really had expectations that they would.
We got lied to, plain and simple. Maybe they didnāt mean to lie, so no hate or anything but the fact is they lied to us.
I donāt think anyone intentionally lied to us today on there, but I do think there are major communication problems between their teams. Personally I think Asobo has gotten in way over their heads on this project, but thatās just my opinion.
Yea, I know they probably didnāt mean it. Still really disheartening.
Maybe it just needs a day or something and itāll be fixed tomorrow, who knows.
Hello! Thank you for the reports. As you know we did report this as āfixedā this morning in the Dev Q&A. Obviously as of 53 minutes ago we can see the issue is still happening, so will immediately escalate this as this was not the intention to speak incorrectly about the bug. We apologize for the mistake and will provide more details ASAP after triaging it with the team.
Thank you very much for the rapid response. We all appreciate the work you are doing trying to fix this issue.
IMO this is the opinion of a rather large subset of other users as well. And you can emphasize the WAY in way over and probably not be exaggerating in the least.
And thereās also a large subset of users (maybe not even a subset) who recognize this is an unprecedented project in game development and Asobo have already got most things right.
Hello everyone. An adjustment on what was said during the live Q&A is necessary. The daily outage in Live Weather will be part of fixes planned for Sim Update 8
The information has been added on the Online Services Monitoring post.
The return to Real Weather @ 0012 Z is very abrupt, and always right on time.
Should be able to Monitor & Plot āReal Weatherā now as I fly, and visualize & document how abrupt changes are along my route
weather down for me, 12.49 uk
Also multiplayer.
1330Z
A thought ā the status of REAL Weather could be easily monitored in real time, with a plane, say parked at Alaska (with Unlimited fuel), and by looking at ambient temperature with an App via Simconnect.
Real weather is down, any time that temperature is at 15C ?, and that could be logged and displayed dynamically on a website, with some form of Uptime Status time Graph.
I havenāt read all replies, but if Asobo thinks they have fixed this bug, they are VERY WRONG! My weather went down again the last few days, always at 2300z and just popped back in again at 0012zā¦
STILL A BUG!
5 posts up from yours and would have read the answer. ![]()
Nice. Thank you.
Right, I figure that thereās a workaround to this outage and it should be known: it is very much related to the current time your computer is set, as @mappamundi and @NJFlyer606 have mentioned. You can still get Live Weather working when starting a new flight during the 72-minute āoutageā as long as you perform the following:
-
Exit the simulator if you have not done so already. I have only tested it before starting up the program! After some further testing, this should work without needing to exit the simulator. However, you must be in the main menu before proceeding further (I still recommend exiting the program for reliability reasons.) - Turn off any automatic time settings, then manually set your time outside the 23:00ā00:12 UTC period. Compensate for your time zone as necessary.
- Start up the simulator and your flight like normal. You may start the flight with Live Weather enabled by default.
- Once you are past the loading screen and started the flight, you may re-enable automatic time settings from this point. Live Weather should still work!
You will not need to perform this again as long as Live Weather is working during the remainder of your flight within the period.
This will work, but you wonāt get the correct forecast hour from the model. Live Weather uses the Windows clock and time zone settings to calculate what the actual UTC time is. Then it provides the forecast (from the MeteoBlue model) for your particular location in the sim world at the current UTC (Zulu) time.
So if you have an aircraft loaded at KJFK, and the actual UTC is 22:00Z you will get the forecast for KJFK at 22:00Z. If you set your Windows clock ahead three hours to avoid the outage, your computer will think it is 01:00Z, and Live Weather will give you the forecasted weather for 01:00Z
I originally thought the āoutageā was a server-side problem, but it seems more likely that it is a bug in the MSFS client introduced in SU7, which is why we will have to wait for SU8 for a fix. For some reason if the actual Zulu time is between 23:00Z and 00:12Z, MSFS does not try to fetch any model weather from the server.
Ahh, that is a better insight! I guess the workaround is quite definitely a workaround because it fetches the data of the time set during flight startup, so it wonāt get the real-time data when used. For now it should be sufficient enough having slightly inaccurate weather during the āoutageā period, at least for my circumstance. This may be different if youāre planning on using a live ATC service like VATSIM or IVAO for example.
