Bit of background: This evening I landed into EGPH after a VFR from Glasgow. As I landed I experienced significant gusts and control issues, despite a 4knt wind being reported by Sky Demon. I though this was a bug, however when I listened to the metar it was reporting winds of 20knts.
This intrigued me, so I had a look past metar and noticed at 1240z, 20kinutes before the 1300z my sim was set to, the METAR was similar conditions to what I experienced l, with winds gusting 25knts. I then set the sim time to live l, retuned the ATIS and immediately the reported wind was 5 knots.
I then tried 2 other times of day with the same results of the wind being within 1knt if the metar at that time, which would account for the gust system in MSFS.
From this limited test I am led to believe that the live weather is actually historical. Has anyone else experienced this? And is it possible for someone from Asobo to confirm or deny this? As it has not been publicised that is is the case.
There are multiple threads about this. Weather is not accurate, it’s reporting 225/3 at all airports, one thread is predicting its 4 hours delayed. Live weather will stop working after your first flight if you load back to the main menu, forcing you to restart the sim to get it back. Been going on for weeks now, Asobo is “looking into it”.
Yes, but this isn’t it not working. Going forward and back in time it is working correctly if it is showing the weather at the selected time, and showing what would be expected
Well, you are flying in the Glasgow area, so thats UK region, which has so far, has meant nearly everybody gets working winds (no local bubble wind bug).
On the other hand, having delayed data seems to be a interment issue, that people say is 1-4 hours, while others will swear they see data as little as 10-30 minutes old.
Others have stated when they checked, all the upper levels were spot on by the minute, while ground level was in its own other universe, they were not able to determine when the weather was like that as per previous reports.
It just seems like this is one of the many little issues of Live Weather that is on going.
Isn’t this error concern wind during the flight? World Map still shows current (somewhat delayed) weather but when you hit FLY it loads 225/3 wind instead
From my experiences, when I boot up my sim live weather reports, however, it seems that weather is always varying around 220 degrees to 240 degrees. I fly out of my local airport all the time and the major wind directions are 320/140 250/070. I have YET to see wind accurately reflected alongside the ATIS info and METAR infor available from Jeppessen or from the airport itself. You know what it does match though? The winds that get reported on Windy.com. I’m almost positive that the metar is just taking one set of wind speeds and not factoring in winds at different altitudes. Check the wind direction indicator on the garmins and you’ll notice as soon as you take off and start gaining altitude winds will read 225/3, every time. The wind and weather system, while pretty to look at, is broken.
