yep, my jaw literally dropped with this answer… I was expecting something around “yes we had a bug, or we didn’t finished something else that depends on it etc… will be fixed for the next patch”… but NO!!
How on earth can this happen with the following claims:
2024 will not cause any regression compared to 2020
VATSIM is a MSFS partner
They have a fleet of various testers, pilots etc
They are in communication with partners and developers
How comes there was no single person to stand-up and say… “Hello, this is broken!” ???

Yes, a fix/workaround/partial fix should come ASAP, not in a sim-update down the road. Some regressions are simply a showstoppers, and this is one of them.
Yeah. I heard a half-commitment made in the Q&A to develop the option to “lock” to the most recent weather snapshot. This would not provide the needed solution.
If Asobo says this correction would be coming in Q1 of 2025, that REALLY means probably middle to end of 2025. It’s gotten to the point where I really don’t believe Asobo or anybody working for MS2024 when they say they do listen to the community!!
We expected to much sim is broken in every aspect weather, planes, compatibility. BASIC function like live weather doesnt work ok…. It is really funny because the msfs tablet always show metar from live weather if im not wrong so when you change time there is no option to find „histrical metar” it is something that I can find cultural words to coment
Asobo didn’t say anything about when it’ll come, in the Q&A they acted like they did not expect this being an issue altogether.
The snapshot says “Under Investigation” in yesterday’s development update.
But in the Q&A they had a slide with the patching cadence and there they said that after next week’s update there will be the usual rhythm of 4 sim updates per year with the first one in Q1 2025.
Whether or not this issue will be part of the first sim update isn’t even said.
Imho, it’d be best to first disable the historical weather feature for now (just like they disabled marketplace) and only enable it again once they fixed the regression.
The fallback should not be to live with a broken system for months but to revert to what it was before (in 2020) until the new system is properly implemented and tested.
That’s what you do with regressions - if you can’t fix them right away, you revert to the previous behavior to gain time to re-implement the change.
But to act like this you first need to realize how big of a regression that is and Asobo’s reaction did show the opposite. They don’t seem to have understood the importance of this.
There’s literally streames who choose to fly 2020 just because of this issue. And they are the ones that should be doing free advertisement for 2024 by actually enjoying using it.

I really hope there can be a temporary solution to disable historical weather. I can’t emphasize the importance of being able to use live weather without it being locked to real time. Not being able to use live weather at will means not being able to use live metars, or any flight planning tools as no service currently has access to historical weather. This genuinely ruins the ability to practice the use of any flight planning tool if you want to be able to see the scenery at the same time.
I’ll add my voice…please, please make historic weather an option so we can choose to fly with live weather independent of the sim time. Flying with historic weather just doesn’t work in some scenarios and we should have the choice.
Asobo send this to the wishlist. They are I cant find word… They said in the last stream that they no planned this :D. Not planned this basic future???

Only just realised this feature couldn’t be turned off!
100% voted to make it optional- for those of us using simbrief and wanting to simulate IFR sectors at certain times other than live, if we don’t have live weather, the flight planning becomes pointless.
Hope this gets made option ASAP otherwise FS24 will just becomes a VFR only sim or me.
