Live weather is well not live

ALL day yesterday around West Yorkshire, UK and right across to Lancashire it was a full on storm, the wind and rain never let up, it was called Storm Francis. Flying yesterday was light a nice summers day all across the Penines, around Yorkshire just nice weather. imo Live weather doesn’t work at all.

Not sure there is any weather now…I am flying in Thailand and sim is CAVOK but real conditions are not. Hopefully this means they are working on it.

Are you sure you had Live weather selected?

Flying across the Pennines, from Manchester, was like a roller coaster ride, yesterday.

First i thought the blue live button is for live weather, but it is just the time.
You must use live weather in the drop down menu.

The temperatures are also WAY off at ALL times. I took off from my local airfield yesterday morning where it was 80 degrees and the thermometer inside of my Cessna said that it was 68. The low yesterday was like 74.

Conversely, I was flying from Humberside airport yesterday evening and it was raining and the wind was strong. I actually saw white caps to waves for the first time.

I just took off over Bordeaux and it should be broken clouds there but there isn’t a cloud in the sky.

For those for which it worked.

Did you select the big button “Live” in the bottom left of the “Flight Condition”-Menu?
or
Did you select “Preset” and select the “Live Weather”-Preset and changed the date+time?

My suspicous is that does not work correctly once the date+time was change.

Was landing at Luton last night and had a very bumpy ride down, not sure what the crosswind was but the autopilot was earning its money.

As an aside, it might have been a fluke but managed my smoothest touchdown in the A320 despite the conditions lol

It’s broken and these current images of Typhoon Bavi and Hurricane Laura in game show it, look at the sat image and where the winds are rotating. Sat image is where it was yesterday.

Ground winds in a very outdated position

Low level winds more up to date, high winds are in the same position as the outdated ground winds

Same with Hurricane Laura, ground winds in the wrong outdated spot

Low winds showing in the correct spot

And fianly! When you are in sim on the airplane there is NO WIND there)) At least I don’t feel it and don’t see on the Garmin…

Yes the Live button should be renamed it is a bit ambiguous.

It’s awesome that I can Independently choose the time of day I want, but still experience the live conditions and therefore very dynamic weather that changes… if it’s working properly.

The part I’m not clear on is, doesn’t that mean you can experience totally unrealistic conditions like 40 degree heat at night with thermals caused by heat from a sun that isn’t there? I guess that’s the tradeoff we accept.

I’ve found Live weather quite reliable so far. The only time I experienced an issue was when I was playing with somebody else and our weather didn’t match. Well, mine was working and the other person just had clear skies. I think it’s a bit hit or miss maybe at the moment. Personally, I’m very happy with it, maybe I’ve been lucky.

Just out of interest, was the other person from the same country as you, do you know?

I just flew into the storm, laura. No wind and turbulence at the moment. But the Rain, visibility and waves was simulating a storm. I used real time satellite info and compared it to the ingame weather. It was pretty accurate.

Looking at Typhoon Bavi right now from S Korea, there’s a chunk of data missing to it’s east side on radar that’s meant to be rain but it looks impressive with a big anvil. Will have a look at Laura after this

I have notice that the low cloud layer is often too low. The cloud level IRL would be about 2000-4000ft but in game it is a thick fog at ground level. This has happened on about half the flights I’ve done thus far.

Kinda late to the party, but just started flying in Europe (primarily only have flown in USA so far) and noticed winds show up on my B787 flight in the instrument panel… but any time I fly in the US (also with A320 Neo), winds always how as 3 knots.
