Also flying on xbox. Not having overheating problems though.
I only fly the Scout now. No problems at all with over heating.
I hope there is going to be an update to correct a few inaccuracies.
And some more liveries for both wasp and scout would be great.
Has anyone else experienced a sudden loss of power when descending quite quickly in a hover? Iām sure itās something thatās actually supposed to happen in the modelling rather than a bug, but I havenāt been able to work out what triggers it. I havenāt touched the governer settings.
Are you pulling a lot of collective when it happens? You could be over-torquing and causing a power droop.
Thatās probably it. When coming down fast and then using the collective to decelerate rapidly.
Iām also having trouble understanding the autostab controls. Above 40kts it behaves as the manual describes, i.e. holding a fairly constant forward speed or constant bank if the wings arenāt level. Under 40kts it seems to doā¦ nothing. Allegedly it holds the aircraftās attitude and a yaw damper is engaged. In practice, it just seems to behave exactly the same as if you take your hands off the stick - swinging around and pitching about all over the place. Thereās no holding attitude in any way. It does centre the heading indicator so I know itās registered the press, but it shows no sign of trying to stabilise the aircraft at all, no matter how level and controlled my attitude was prior to engaging it.
Also does anyone know how to assign a hotkey or controller button to the disengage function for this? I tried assigning āset disengage autopilotā but the helicopter just ignores it. Itās very inconvenient having to pan my view to crouching in the footwell to reach the button on the stick in the cockpit.
The scout NEVER had the auto stabiliser. It was meant for the Wasp only.
The scout also doesnt have a govenor. The throttle on the collective should be wound fully open and kept there throughout flight.
That doesnāt address my concerns. I was also in the Wasp when I was situation testing the autostab.
I donāt believe itās currently possible to assign a shortcut to the ādisable autostabā based on the information in the manual.
Agreed.
Great add-on with my only gripe being this issue: i.e. no key binding available to disable the SAS control because the button in the VC is in an extremely awkward spot to get at to click.
Plain grey, No proper Navy schemes. Its a shame as the Navy had many schemes for the Wasp.
Theres a couple of nice paints over at flightsim.to
Im on Xbox. Hopefully more will come soon.
Hereās a neat vid of Scouts in action, it has everything, low level flying, etc. etc. and even some 60ās speedjazz at the 5:00 mark:
The Fighting Scout (youtube.com)
I used to operate the Wasp from a Royal Navy frigate in the mid 70ās and its a fair representation. The wheels were arranged for different missions. The rear wheels were set 45 degrees so they were only allowed to hover taxi as far as i remember they never did a rolling taxi. The wheels were also set at 45 degrees front and rear so with the aid of a deck lock could turn in a circle on the ship to head into wind as required. Great times but long ago now.
There the bulges.in the door. To enabke stretchers tonfit in the cabin.
This is great! What is your control setup? I would love to hear more about the flying characteristics and any stories you have during your time operating them.
I have the Airbus flight stick, captains throttle quadrant with pedals. I use a wireless mouse and keyboard.
I only fly helicopters now. The scout is too slow in its flight.model. but great fun
These older machines arenāt as nimble as some more modern helicopters, but still very maneuverable. These two ships began design in the late 40ās with the Saro Skeeter.
The Hughes model 369 (OH-6) was ahead of itās time in the early sixties, but Iām sure itās a slug compared to an MD530F.
