Is there a way of finding what country/ city your flying over
The only way I know is to find the nearest airport (for example on the VFR map or G1000) and look the code up on the internet.
There are a bunch of pretty useful moving maps available, game add–ons or separate applications. I can advise FSPM VFR Map (improves the so-called “VFR map”), or MSFS Mobile Companion App (opens a separate control panel on any device connected to the same network as your PC’s).
Both use Open Street Map as a background.
