Log into XBox Required?

I am using MSFS via Steam on a PC. On startup, it is now asking me to login to XBox. Is this something new? Does everyone need to now create and login to an XBox account?

A ms/xbox account has been required from the very early beginning, even for steam

Thanks. Guess I logged in once when I installed the game on release, and it never asked me to login again until now. Forgot I ever did.

that is just your Microsoft Account, that you are using for your Windows 10. It’s the same account credentials.

And it has been like that from the beginning.
