Hello, I bought MSFS2020 from Steam. Downloaded a mandatory update of about 120GB after getting it. It took me almost 2 days to download and install it. Because it is downloaded and installed piece by piece. In fact, I think it would save a lot of time if it downloads 120GB once and then installs it. On the contrary, all my updates were deleted yesterday after unknowingly using Steam’s file verification feature. Now I’ve been trying to re-download the mandatory updates since yesterday. Please contact Steam and find a solution to this problem. Kind regards.
Microsoft/Asobo are apparently never going to change that. I stay away from the Steam verification feature always, whenever possible.
Thanks, but this has nothing to do with the problem I’m talking about. My bandwidth is 35Mbits/sec. and smoothly at full speed. My computer is not a very old model, it is a computer with SSD disk and i7 processor, which is not bad. Thanks for the info though.
I recommend you backup your official packages folder to a safe place in order to avoid having to re-download everything again in the future. (I use 7-zip to compress it.) This will also provide you extra safety when joining beta-testing flights if you choose to do so.
With Steam, the default packages directory is under “%appdata%\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages”
Yes, as soon as the download was finished, I immediately backed up. Thank you so much.
One way I sped up download process is to open task manager, right click flight sim, click expand, right click new flight sim underneath, click details, right click flight sim and find priority level in the drop down, select and click either high or real time. Real time will make nothing else work on your computer tho lol
