LOL, that was my first tought too…
As this is a public forum, wouldnt it make sense to post that here in the thread as it might help someone else too?
Yes , it would make sense… if it could help the community.
Can you imagine that if I choosed a private message it was because it’s private ?
And it’s what for these messages are made.
Blue skies.
I can absolutely imagine, yes… LOL
That’s a valid question, the answer is easy: I was able to purchase the Standard version really cheap, I mean really cheap, while there was no offer for the deluxe.
Did I save money, probably not, Hindsight is easier than foresight
I’m looking for a Cessna 172 with the old style gauges on the panel for MS2020…No fancy electronic “all in one” instruments…Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!
The BirdDog 170B is old school.
There is a C172 in the stock sim with the six pack gauges. It’s in the Deluxe version.
And it was brilliant marketing by Microsoft. The ONLY reason I bought the “upgrade” was for the steam gauge version. I’m guessing Microsoft knew most (real life) pilots would want it over the glass version in the “basic” package. By putting in the more expensive version they lured us into spending more money on their beta flight simulator.
Brilliant marketing.
Of all things with MSFS, paying the extra to the the C172 Steam Gauge Plane , is one purchase I do NOT regret.
With a Little “Fixing up”, it is the one Asobo Plane where everything works as expected ( well almost !!)
Nor do I. I just wish it came with a basic version. I’ve never flown a real G1000 172 but I have 50 years flying in a steam gauge 172 and Hawk XP. To me, the G1000 version of a 172 is an upgrade.
What sort of “fixing up” can I do? Thanks…
You want a List !!! lol
Anything from the AP using the Transponder baro for its Altitude reference, and the Transponder displays Pressure altitude, instead of Flight Levels,
and
The AP not locking to current VS when turned on
to
The Clock backlight staying on when the Battery is OFF.
I agree that most IRL pilots would want the steam gauge aircraft vs glass panel since that is how many pilots learned how to fly. I think that most non-licensed pilots would prefer glass panel due to ease of learning and ease of use. If more users prefer glass panel, then MS could have made more money putting the glass panel aircraft in a premium or deluxe upgrade (assuming these users are willing to pay more). Personally, I think MS knew exactly how to structure the different packages and the optimal price for each to make a profit. This isn’t their first flight simulator!
As a non-pilot who has flown flight sims for 30 years I have to disagree with you.
I have a lot of the Logitech/Saiteck flight instrument panels including the full radio stack. I also fly with paper charts and therefore I have no need or desire to have a glass panel or GPS.
As my set-up is not a permanent set-up I sometimes just jump straight into MSFS, so I would love to have the ''Premium" 172 reflect the radio panels I already have.
I would even pay just to have the full radio stack.
Would have been nice if this was made clearer before purchasing. Perhaps I missed something but I didn’t see anything about different versions of the same planes depending on which package you purchased? Seems kind of shady if you ask me.
I don’t understand what you’re asking for here.
Are you asking for Asobo to call you and find out what your radio setup is?
There are literally thousands of different avionics configurations for the C172. They chose one fairly standard one. It is not at all a simple job to change out avionics in a panel in MSFS, not like it was in the old 2D panel days. You need 3D models and complex integrated coding.
Its a strange and backward virtual world when a less capable aircraft is considered an upgrade.
Their strategy worked on me. I paid for the delux upgrade just for that one aircraft. (I guess that makes it the most expensive add-on aircraft I own.)
I did the same thing - the steam gauge C172 and the Baron where the planes from FSX original rollout that I flew the most…at least until the 3rd party started cranking.
Had to have both of those in MSFS, and the first plane I flew when I got MSFS was that c172
