Looking for some assignment codes - G1000

On the G1000 NXi in my C172, when i double-click the HDG knob it sets the HDG bug to the same as current heading.

When I double-click the CRS knob it sets the VOR course to the one that matches the direction to the chosen VOR ( i think thats what i mean)

Does anyone know the “controls” assignments that these functions are triggered by please?

I’m trying to get them working on my Axair MIAP control box but not finding the right commands I think

Personal Comments

Unfortunately for XBox, you can’t use external programs, which is the only way to get that particular behavior to work on a hardware control. In other words, there is no Key Bind that you could assign to the Axair to emulate the command. Another often used button is VNAV, which is in the same boat. Some cockpit interactions just don’t have key binds.

In my set up, I have a VKB FSM General Aviation Switch Box. In order for me to be able to press my HDG Sync Knob on the FSM-GA and make heading align with current / lubber line - I have to use the external program called Mobiflight which runs in parallel to the sim.

Mobiflight in turn sends the command VAR string: AS1000_PFD_HEADING_SYNC

I don’t use the VOR command, so I have no equivalent string there.

Interesting, thanks, good to know i’m not going mad then, been searching

The MIAP is a great little box, I have most of it working now and it transforms interaction/realism. I thought I had VNAV working as I did an ILS/VNAV landing today - i’ll check it again tomorrow.

I was also looking for a command to swap from GPS to VOR1 mode on the CDI, not found it yet, if its there

You’re right, i can find no match for V-NAV sadly - is there a way to request this addition???

I have found a command to swap GPS to VOR1 now

I created a bug report which was logged as Feedback.

Based on conversations with Working Title, the challenge is that it’s part of the Avionics suite, which notably is separate from Autopilot, even though we think of NAV, HDG, VOR 1/2 as Avionics - they’re not. VNAV is one of those oddball functions that requires manipulation through VARs. Maybe Asobo can recode it, but at the moment, it’s just this way.

Thats a shame, probably will not see it get implemented i guess.

The swap for GPS/NAV1 is “Instruments & systems” - “Flight instruments” - “Toggle GPS drives NAV1”

Still looking for a way to activate GPS mode though when in HDG mode - any ideas??

You typically fly HDG to get a 30 degree intercept line with your GPS (Magenta) line, then press NAV which will arm GPS (GPS appears in white in the Annunciator Scoreboard). Once you’re within “two dots” of the track offset (look at the HSI for the dot scale superimposed underneath the airplane symbol), GPS will flash indicating it’s within tolerances and starting to track the planned leg - the aircraft will start to bank to align with the leg. Eventually GPS turns Green and HDG extinguishes indicating you are now guiding via GPS.

Thanks, I got that but do you know the assignment description in controls to activate “NAV” when its in HDG mode please ?

NAV is completely separate from HDG.

I have NAV button mapped to AUTOPILOT NAV1 HOLD

I have HDG button mapped to TOGGLE AUTOPILOT HEADING HOLD

NAV will arm if HDG is active until the GPS tracking is satisfied per my other post.

If you are already on NAV, HDG will override if activated.

Thanks for that,

I just changed my HDG mapping and it all seems better now, it does switch to GPS once its on or near the course now
