Looking for the Kodiak, but with steam gauges

Pretty much the title. I love almost everything about the Kodiak - range, power, and STOL capabilities. I would love it even more with steam gauges, with perhaps the option for a smaller GPS, similar to the analogue TBM 850. Any recommendations for something that might the fit the bill with similar capabilities as the Kodiak but with analogue gauges?

Thank you in advance!

Black Square Caravan?

I too would suggest the Caravan. We’re at an interesting place in time where aircraft now come with “modern” avionics from day one.

BKSQ Caravan, hands down one of my favorites.

The caravan is a good shout. The yet to be released but expected soon GA8 from SWS thd same dev as the Kodiak might be another good option. I would like to suggest the PAC-750 from Orbx but it has some long standing issues that have still not been addressed.

Do you know how it does in the bush, with soft runways?

The PAC-750 looks intriguing, especially for bush flights. What are the long-standing issues?

There are also steam gauge PC6 kicking about.

Shorts SC.7 Skyvan? Analog and some STOL ability, faster than the PC-6 (150knots cruise I think?)

My bets on PC-6 but that’s my favourite  I got it up to 170knots with tailwind @11000 ft, but yeah it’s slow still. I’d imagine the Skyvan could hit 200knots with tailwind

“Kodiac with steam gauges” = “BlackSquare Caravan”. I just wish they did a float version as well

Is the Caravan going to work in 2024? I think not. At least not for a while, as it uses the default plane to build on which will have significantly changed.

In 2020, it does fine, with good STOL capabilities. I honestly have not done a lot of soft field landings, though. I’m guessing 2024 will change things up drastically for this scenario.

Fuel only draws from one tank I think was one and there are others. There is a whole thread on this forum dedicated to the PAC-750 which talks about these if you want to have a read up before you take the plunge.

This is what concerns me as well. The Caravan looks intriguing, but since it’s not a full plane, I don’t think it will work right away, so I’m hesitant to purchase it.

I do enjoy the Blackbird PC-6 analogue. But its range and speed are a bit low for what I’m looking for. Also, the switches on that left-hand panel are difficult to get at sometimes, depending on your angle. If those were viewable straight on (yes, I know that’s how the real plane was built and in real life I’m sure it works terrific), the PC-6 would be darn near the top of the list for bush trips, at least for me!

very valid points, I have noticed both as well. Luckily i have a switch panel to control those pesky side switches because yep they are quite tricky to get to in default cockpit view! Same with the transponder, it gets hidden behind the condition lever.

Full send with the caravan i say :sunglasses: MSFS 2024 can…wait :stuck_out_tongue:

Definitely recommend creating Custom Cockpit Views. You can do up to 10 per plane, and use mappings to keyboard or various control buttons for them. This is the first thing I set up with any new plane, and it’s now muscle memory to move around any cockpit.

As far as I know the caravan is sturdy enough for landings/take-offs in harsh conditions.
The 2 ( skydivers) caravans at my local airport ( EHTE) are mostly operated from the tarmac strip but also on the grass strips at EHTX, EHMZ, EHTX, EHAL. ( just to name a few)
