If you expected high fidelity airliners straight out of the box, you had unreasonable expectations. MS has never made realistic airliners, because if they did the game would be too hard to “play” (especially for the pre-teens who are spending mommy and daddy’s money who would throw temper tantrums because they don’t have the skills to fly an accurate 747), which would cost them a lot of customers, and a lot of revenues.
That’s why companies like PMDG and their siblings exist in the first place. To scratch the itch to fly realistic airliners that only a few of us have and are willing to pay the price (that is frequently more than the base sim itself) to do so.
I am anxiously awaiting someone to take my money, and in the meantime I am very impressed with the Working Title CJ4 and have heard nothing but great things about the Fly By Wire A320, though I’ve only flown it myself once and lack the skills (so far anyway) to do it right.
I’m very grateful for the open source (meaning free) high fidelity jets and airliners, but I sure hope there’s enough room for professionals in it for the money to still continue doing so.
I do not and have not expected such things out of Asobo or Microsoft, to the point that I don’t even bother with the default versions, and am content to wait for the professionals to do what they do.
In the meantime, I love the default 172s (especially the steam gauge version), the Carenado singles, and I’m starting an illicit affair with the Baron and TBM. But there’s only enough room in my skull full of mush to retain the proper knowledge to fly so many aircraft (properly, anyway) at the same time.
