That reminds me: are emojis already supported as tail numbers? They better be! Gonna try this out tonight…
To be fair “Global Warming” fell out of favour in some circles, and became “Climate Change”.
I live in the UK, so I am quite used to the climate changing.
But to be fair, I’ve lived in the same town all my life. When we were kids, we regularly had extremely cold winters, with heavy snow that was enough where sledding was a popular past time. Many years over, it was so cold the river near me iced over, and we took our bikes on to it.
It hasn’t done that in more than 30 years.
I agree, it would be great.
Unfortunately the current standard, dry, ground friction model is already completely inaccurate. Attempting to simulate correctly different braking actions and runway friction coefficients is most likely completely beyond the current level/ability of Asobo.
As such I’d rather they not implement it at all, rather than attempt another half baked, unrealistic representation of contaminated runways.
A reminder to stay on topic and within the Code of Conduct
Over 2 meters of snow has fallen in the last 3 days, with more falling over this weekend , in the Niigata area of Japan. Incredible.
Same here. And I am talking about „white christmas all year!“-Switzerland.
But that‘s not even the problem (yet): we‘re talking massive ice melting at the poles, massive accumulation and intensity of storms, and let‘s see in 50 years who still lives at the same location (near the sea) as today…
Yes, if they used real liveries without permission, that would be copyright infringement.
But, Microsoft has an active project going to get that permission from the major airlines. And it’s pretty important to them. I can’t remember where I saw it, but, they said it’s gonna take a while because, well, it’s not on the airlines’ top priorities to figure out the legal ramifications.
Hopefully with 2 million copies sold in the last 4 months, and it’s not likely to slow down with XBox coming… The airlines’ll have a change of heart and realize the marketing opportunity. Not to mention they are running out of pilots because it’s so expensive, fewer people are learning, and the military pool is dwindling. So, good advertisement for that as well. Pilotless aircraft are, hopefully, quite a ways off in realization.
i from Spain and the same problem and in japan I been living 6 years and people who have been living for over 30 years here said the summer these years is terribly hot and in autumn we have many big typhoon when before use to be 1 every 3 or 4 years and summer temperatures used to be reasonable
Go play Cyberpunk
You’ll see what a real Working beta looks like

Perfect shot !
While I agree that snowy trees would be nice at least here in Switzerland “green trees in snow” have become quite a common sight. I took this picture just today:
I don’t think those are the ones Stuffy was talking about. We also have evergreens in norther Canada, but was also have the largest Boreal forest in the world and much of it is Willow, Birch and Poplar. Any of their leaves should be on the ground under 2 metres of snow. Not glistening green in the sunshine attached to their limbs.
Well, my point was less the actual kind of tree, but rather that snow melts quite quickly from trees these times - at least here in Switzerland (and hence also Europe, I’d say).
So “trees without snow” are quite a common view here.
Actually I got your point…
Mine was that, after the snow melts off the branches we shouldn’t be left with green leaves.
Green trees depends on geography. You’ll see green trees where pine trees are native. On the other hand, maple trees would be bare.
So, interesting… Will it just be live snow FALLING? Or will it include snow accumulation, so that the ground will be covered? THAT is the real question.
You can vote to fix icing here.
As for snow, it’s a most welcome addition so long as it’s implemented sensibly (i.e - roads & runways are given far less snow depth than their surroundings.
That IS the question.
I suspect the ground cover will have to wait until actual seasons get modelled, but I, for one, am holding my breath. (well maybe not until the 22nd)
I’m hoping that it will represent actual real-time coverage on the ground long after the snow stops falling.
This is wonderful news. Add that in with the seasonal tree addons that are popping up here and there, and we have a winter!
