Losing buildings, landmarks and quality with every update

Losing buildings, landmarks and quality with every update.
what happened to find my house etc. London lost buck palace GPO tower London eye etc.
noticed quality and accuracy generally going down . in England and Europe its sad if MS is selling us out to pay ware.

Can’t comment on your house, but the rest of London - totally default - looks pretty good to me this morning.

AndyXPO Thanks for your comment put my mind at rest , I’m glad its my end and not some change in MSFS policies.
I’m a bit of a PC troglodyte. don’t suppose you know what it could be ?

Checked last night and seems unchanged to me.
Try deleting the rolling cache, maybe it could help.

Your photogrammetry and satellite data settings may have been turned off somehow. As a result, you’re likely seeing bare bones scenery. Check and see if that is the case, by going to the data settings and making sure these things are on.

Perhaps your photogrammetry is off? I’d start by checking your ā€œdataā€ settings in the sim setting menu. Although I’ve never had it myself, apparently things like photogrammetry, bing data etc sometimes turn themselves off. Good luck.

Thankyou Djorous, EzarVIII and AndyXPO
turned on Photogrammetry and deleted and turned off rolling cash still no Buckingham Palace etc.
Butt turning of and deleting rolling cash
stopped all jittering and improved FPS dramatically in VR.
thanks

Do you actually have the free UK update installed?

Check your content manager and see if there is anything with ā€œupdate availableā€.

Day/time of year and weather result in differences in the graphic perception. Light and shadow paint a deeper picture in the morning and evening than at lunchtime. In other words, the graphics performance of the computer can sometimes be secondary?!

I bet this is the issue (and that photogrammetry was off, too). Somebody else mentioned this recently, and I realized I hadn’t ā€œpurchasedā€ (the free) content in the Marketplace for the last two world updates, I’d completely forgotten those steps. I’m always checking my Content Manager for updates, but I forgot you need to also ā€œpurchaseā€ the new scenery with the World Updates from the Marketplace.

I wonder why they make you do this, and it’s not just loaded with the update?

Because the updates are quite big, so they made it optional for folks with disk space issues I guess.

That’s a thing we keep hearing, occasionally, yet nobody shows any proof of it. Show proof and detailed explanations that also rule out common updating bugs or user error. If a technical ā€˜problem’ is mentioned, a technical explanation and description is needed. Personally, I totally disagree that the sim looks worse ā€˜with every update’.

Can you make sure that the UK world update scenery package is installed. You can do this from the marketplace and or content manager. If it is not installed, then install it. Buck house and other landmarks and high quality photogrammetry come with the UK world update package.

If it is installed, may I suggest uninstalling it. Restarting the simulator and then reinstalling this package.

And yes, since the Nordic world update the caching feature is a bit broken. I hope they will fix this as we all don’t have the luxury of unlimited data. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

For comparison. Note the Ferris wheel in the center.

In addition too

  • the number and complexity of the generated buildings

  • cruising speed

  • Weather (preset or live)

  • Aerosol density

  • Seasonally higher temperature (processor cooling)?

Pour these components into a pot and …

Thank you for all your tips I did have my Photogrammetry on nor had I downloaded England update.
its working fine now. did learn a few things along the way. for all those who use VR who may not know this. When I deleted the rolling cash and turned it off. it Improved the FPS and removed the jittering around big cities.
thanks again to all who took the time to Help.

Maybe it’s optional, because of the size ? Last week I noticed I never downloaded Japan WU2 in Content Manager.. I never fly there, now I want to do that, but I feel insecure to install it. Is it compatible when I’d add a november 2020 bundle in the current state ? wouldn’t it mess up any aircraft.. :cat:

I really wish FS2020 would notify us when it changes settings out from under us without our approval or request. This has caught me on occasion too and I’m really getting a bit tired of it. Photogrammetry silently turning off if there is a network hiccup, but never back on, is one of the worst issues.

FS2020 can optimize all it wants, but ask us if it thinks it needs to make changes and tell us when it has. This behavior of not asking/notifying is rude and needs to stop. They are our computers and we pay to run the software. MS/Asobo has no right to make these changes without our knowledge. This is the most egregious behavior I have ever seen in any software - ever.

My bet it’s actually content ownership rights. As Jorg keeps mentioning, Gaya is the author of much of the content, so there’s probably some sort of business reason behind it. A way of managing the books.

Did you experience any issues, installing old world update bundles ?
