Loss of Aircraft Control When Mouse on Second Screen

Only happens when you have an Aircraftsystem monitor like the PFD moved to that second monitor. It’s an old bug and made me crash for the first time last year.

Any news or information regarding a planned fix!??

I use SpaceDesk for adding a tablet device as additional Touch Screen for ATC Comms and Garmin views. However this bug makes it really annoying, as I have to move the mouse pointer and click on the main screen to recover aircraft control.
Even more, it happens the same using mouse to change settings in a second no-Touch screen where I run Air Manager to show gauges.

I FOUND THE FIX!

You need to have ms pop up manager installed.

  1. Go to preferences
  2. Go to touch settings
  3. Click the check mark that says automatically set focus back to game window after a period of inactivity on touch enabled panel. This will give your flight control back when using pop out panel.
  4. Leave the time at 500 ( the lowest setting)!

It works like a champ for me! You never have to slide the mouse back. It does automatically!

I’m also using space desk.

HOPE THIS HELPS!

Google msfs popout panel manager.

Click on first link that should be flightsim.to

Scroll all the way to the bottom where it says download. If you see comments, you’ve gone too far.

Yes

Brief description of the issue:

Frame generation works perfectly but it seems to “pause itself” when using an other program on the second screen (e.g Navigraph, vPilot, Chrome, etc). It works again as soon as I go back in MSFS on my main monitor. Is it the correct behaviour?

Just use FG and click with your mouse on the second screen, you can even simply open the Windows menu.

I have two other monitors just for other tasks (Navigraph, Chrome, OBS, VPilot, etc).

As soon as I click in an other monitor FG stops working, it also does that when I press the Windows key.

But as soon as I click back in MSFS FG works again and I get the doubled frames.

I guess MSFS needs to stay the “active” program. It’s not a big deal but when I check stuff in Navigraph on my second monitor for example while rolling out or taxiing I get less FPS.

(For precision I’m not using any MSFS popped out windows)

Topic was merged but I don’t think it’s the same issue. I don’t even know if it’s an issue, was just curious. Maybe it’s meant to work like that.

I was talking about Frame generation stopping doubling the frames when clicking outside of the simulator (e.g on a second monitor using another program)

As soon as I click back in MSFS I get my doubled frames back.

I just ran across this application called mouse mux. It allows you to have two mice connected zt the same time and have two cursors. I will try this tonight but if I’m correct this will allow you to have one mouse on a second monitor while keeping the other on the msfs monitor allwoing you to retain control in the sim using one mouse but able to look at Navigraph or what ever app on another monitor. Ill try this tonight and psot my findings.

Funny thing, honeycomb alpha movement for ailerons and elevator moves when the mouse is on the second screen but not other peripherals like rudder pedals!! Plus I get FPS lost when I open 2 pop out but not if only one pop out.

This is not correct. It’s not just when you click out of MSFS. If you move the mouse to another monitor - even if you’re using it in an MSFS window, the same problem occurs. For instance, you can move any of the toolbar windows to a second monitor - eg VFR map, navlog, ATC etc. If your mouse is on one of those, the same thing happens. It’s really “simple” - the mouse cursor has to be on the primary monitor running the SIM.
It doesn’t matter whether you leave that monitor to use a different program, a popped out display, or a toolbar window.
And it’s very very irritating that this - like so many other really fundamental problems - has gotten no attention.

Did you ever try this? Did it work?

Yes I did with no success. It is due to MSFS requiring mouse focus on the main screen MSFS is running on. Tried it with two mice setup 1 on each display. Leave one mouse cursor on MSFS and as soon as you move the mouse cursor with the second mouse on the other display you cannot change anythin in MSFS ssuch as pitch, yaw rudder throttle etc, even tho mouse cursor one is still on the MSFS monitor. Its a limit of MSFS not Windows as any other program does not have that issue. EXAMPLE: you can type in notepad on one and use paint on the other at the same time.

Older thread, but still relevant!

I’ve noticed an interesting variation on this – if the mouse is over the header of a popped-out MSFS panel on the 2nd display, the FS controls seem to work. The headers of the MSFS panels seem to count as the game itself! I’ll do more testing.
