I also noticed this but it’s very simply because the game now runs as ‘windowed’ and not full screen, so the progress bar is hidden by the Windows taskbar. If you hit ‘Alt-Enter’ to go to full screen the progress bar will reappear.

Cool. Thank you for that tip Andy. I have been waiting for the sim to come up and then manually changing the sim back to full screen under options. That’ll save me some extra steps. Thanks so much!!!
