Telekom 100mbit user with a Speedport 4. Tried this solution this morning (along with a full reinstall) and so far so good, so many thanks for this advice. Start flught now about 5-10 secs rather than 20 minutes plus (never found out exactly, always gave up!).
Friday morning is somewhat different to Friday evening when it comes to server traffic so will test again tonight and tommorow and report back if any issues. But thanks again.
