Low Bandwidth issues with Telekom - Germany only!

The problem persists even with changed DNS entries, at least in part. Using a different DNS may make the sim “usable” but anything other than fast or good.

For example, it takes ages for the map to load (after zooming in) if you want to select a gate at the airport.

Or it also takes forever until all textures in the sim have been “streamed”.

I couldn’t even test the A330 (longer) because everything feels so wrong. If you switch to the outside and back inside, some instruments and buttons reload.

For me, the sim is useless in this status and having to pay for a permanent and expensive VPN can’t be the solution?

I also don’t care who the guilty party is in the end. Both Microsoft and Telekom have to come up with a solution.

So far I regret the 150€ I invested in this piece of software,

Interesting observation today (Telekom here with DNS applied in the router):

I started FS24 without VPN and got a very long loading period for 6% loading language. I terminated FS24 and tried again with VPN to some western europe country. Loading into FS was very fast. I had a crash in FS and had to restart. VPN still active and got stuck again at 6% language loading. Terminated FS, switched the country in VPN and loading into FS was again quite fast. Had another crash in FS, restarted and again, 6% loading language. Switched a thrid time to another country and loading in to FS was again very fast.

Doesn’t seem like it has much to do with Telekom. Looks more like MS servers put you on hold when restarting FS from the same IP.

As it’s getting worse - the media is getting more aware and the german consumer advice centre is preparing an official complaint at the “Bundesnetzagentur”, because it sees the net neutrality undermined by the “Telekom”.

Telekom customers can join the complaint here: https://netzbremse.de/

Same problem here. It´s definitely not solved. I have also Telekom as ISP and can only play when switching temporarily to Google DNS. This is of course not a permanent solution.

I marked the answer as solved so people clicking on this topic can find the workaround more easily.

Of course the issue is still present. Luckily it gets more traction and even some news outlets are reporting on this. When I have some time I’ll update the original post to reflect the current situation better

Guys, there is something fishy going on…

Today I launched FS24 with VPN already active (France) but got stuck again at 6% loading language. Terminated FS but didn’t switch the country, loading back into FS then worked quite fast.

A few hours alter I started FS without any VPN and it was loading quite fast again.

Long loading times seem to me almost totally random.

Ok, I didn’t know that. Still don’t understand the differentiation between “solved” and “fixed” though…

It took a while for me to notice this problem was not necessarily on my end. Thought this was something generally wrong with the sim or my internet.

However, my bandwidth is usually stable with approximately 230 Mbit/s by Telekom. The sim only gets around 2 Mbit/s. Makes it totally unplayable and worthless. No problems with MSFS 2020.

I know that moderators posted in this section, but does that mean MS is working on some kind of fix for this? After all, the system requirements did not mention I might need to change my ISP to be able to use the software

Hi Lukas, right now the easiest way to have a playable system, change the DNS entries in your router to e.g. Cloudflare. It helps me to enjoy MSFS 2024. With MSFS 2020 the DNS change is or was not necessary.

Long time coming. They’ve had the monopoly on the infrastructure since they were still run by the Federal government.

Well, this is not an ideal solution as it disables automatic firmware updates of my router. So some kind of other solution in the long term would be appreciated.

With regards to my comment earlier, there is a new observation and it’s getting more weird:

Everytime I load FS24 for the first time after starting my PC, the loading screen needs very long to get past 6% loading language. Sometimes I wait how long it takes and it is about 5 minutes or even longer until it continues.

What I usually do is alt+tab and kill FS24 via task manager. FS24 shuts off immediately and I can restart. After restart I get the warning about FS didn’t finish properly and if I want to use ‘save’ loading. I just continue normal and FS is loading in about 2 minutes.

Now, if I kill the first loading try not via alt+tab but via alt+F4 and then reload FS, it happens again and loading ist stuck for minutes at 6% again.
Only if I kill the previous loading via alt+tab in taskmanager, the restart goes well in about 2 minutes.

This is now 100% reproducable.

And the weirdness continues, because when I quit FS after a successfull session and restart it, again it is stuck at 6% loading until I force quit via alt+tab and reload it.

tl;dr

Every second loading into FS works fine, if the previous loading stuck process was forcefully killed via alt+tab and shutting down FS24 via task manager.

100% reproducable

Can anyone who still has long loading time issues try this out, please?

Today I changed my ISP and immediately could enjoy FS2024 without DNS changes.
So there is proof that it was a Telekom Germany problem.

Fun fact: my new ISP is using the same cables and I didn’t have any problems in game.

Strange but all I can say is bye bye Telekom!

What’s the name of your new ISP?

Switched to O2. Same cables as Telekom, working flawless!

hi for the xbox I found yesteray a solution and it works perfekt. you have to use Port Forwarding. The given Ports are from MSFS and Microsoft directly. Old entries. I will share the screenshot. since Yesterday msfs works without major hickups. I hope this will help you
