Low bandwidth Message - Connection Lost - Switched Offline

The same thing happens to me, it started doing that today.

My Sim doesn’t even start anymore without disabling the network card. Seems their servers are not performing very well.
Also got ā€œAzure voice not availableā€ (or whatever it was called) several times.

I’ve been seeing this message frequently since SU6, and never before that. I have a 300 mb/s internet and have tested with results exceeding about 230 mbs to over 300 mbs. There are no other IP users at the time. As a communications engineer, this points directly to the Azure cloud as I’ve pretty much ruled out anything else.

I figured it out. I ran Resource monitor. I found that TCP V6 and 4 were eating up bandwidth. I went to my network connections property for ethernet hardwired only. I went into properties and uninstalled IPV6. I then disabled wifi and bluetooth connections as well. I went back to resource manager and verified IPV4 was only running. I ran FlightSim. Wala!

No more connections errors. I also enabled Photogrammetry and guess what? No disconnects in 4 days. Conclusion: IPV6 and 4 were flighting each other. My bandwidth was being considered into both TCP versions. I closed the connection on IPV6 and now 4 is running at 100% bandwidth load but not getting drops. 3 days without any drop now.

Before it was both protocols. Now its only. Its like closing a connection on thrupath for broadband. now there is double the bandwidth for V4 now. Therefore, leaving more bandwidth for gameplay.

Disable IPV6

Unfortunately didnt help here.

I’ve never used rolling cache and have little problem in switching back and forward. However, I did get this message twice, but on checking connections it appeared to me that the MS pipelines/servers get congested at peak times, as the download from MS was painfully slow at the time.

No coincidence perhaps? Anyway, worth thinking about.:

Thanks for your comment, but it didn’t work for me

If you have installed the google bing replacement mod from flightsim.to once you have to follow the uninstall steps, which are in the FAQ section. After I’ve done these steps it works fine again.

I have that mod and have tried the sim with and without it running, with no real difference in performance.I’ve just had to quit the sim because of constant low bandwidth warnings. The worst I’ve ever experienced. The servers are now so loaded that no matter how good/bad the PC is this will keep on happening.I always see in the performance tab of task manager that A)I’m only getting Kbps and B)The PC is sending more data than it’s receiving which must mean I need more data which it periodically cannot provide.I’m on the verge now of giving up on it which is a bitter pill to swallow…

The problem could be that in the described hostfile are still the addresses for the mod, which leads to a not functioning connection to the Microsoft servers and these warnings.

IPv6 is not going to interfere with IPv4 and each is only using ā€œbandwidthā€ when there is an application (or OS) requesting service via the IP socket. Furthermore, more and more applications out there rely on IPv6 because it provides a higher thru put than IPv4 and is used by such things as Remote Assist and Home Group. MS recommends that you do not disable IPv6.

IPv6 provides a larger address space, which is the primary reason for the adoption of this standard. IPv4 address space was becoming virtually full.

Could be,after trying both google and Bing in the same flight I was still getting the same problem,so I shut down windows 10 and drained residual power. When I rebooted I got better performance and no connection drops, still get sudden framerate drops though the servers still suck…

I totally agree. I had the same problem with the slow connection speeds after installing the Google bing replacement. I had so many problems with it locking up that I ran it without the bat file and cmd window and my system would still lock up.

I eventually had to totally remove MSFS2020 from my computer and do a reinstall. Didn’t get all of the folders deleted, so I had to do a second re-install. Finally after 4 days, I had MSFS 2020 working where I could actually be in the cockpit of the plane, but I was then suffering from the connection issues.

After reading your post, I went to the FAQ of the mod on flightsim.to and followed the following:

App should restore to bing map when it close, if not, please delete The following two lines in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file:

127.0.0.1 kh.ssl.ak.tiles.virtualearth.net
127.0.0.1 khstorelive.azureedge.net

Rebooted my machine, logged into MSFS 2020, and no issues with connections to the server, or being switched to offline mode for streaming dynamic data from bing maps.

I wanted to try the Google earth mod, but in the end, I fought it for 4 days and had to do a complete nuke and pave of the MSFS 2020 program. Now all the hobbs meters are set back to 0. I use Little Nav Map to log my flights. I need to figure out how to export the log to excel, total up the hours for each of the planes, and then edit the appropriate files in MSFS 2020 to update the hobs meters.

I think about how hard it is for MS and Asobo to trouble shoot these kinds of errors. The Google earth mod, even with a complete re-install of MSFS 2020 was still messing it up. Asobo and MS would say to clear everything out of the community folder. Mine was completely empty yet I was still having issues playing the game. Finally after clearing out the host file, nothing related to the install of MSFS 2020, the game finally works.

Same here since using the google earth mod, it has completely messed things up… a very risky and dangerous mod for MSFS.

I keep getting connection issues although my bandwidth is 100mps.. tried to delete the host files, but my windows wont let me save it saying I need to contact administrator… any advice here?

Thanks

Yeah, you have to switch to an adminstartors account. See we we’re having this problem without the mod (when this thread was started). I had the low bandwidth connection thing going on for about a week, and then it just all of a sudden cleared up by itself. I even installed a fresh copy of windows and it was doing the exact same thing.

I boiled it down to either Spectrum was having issues, or that the Servers are having issues (one of the joys of a high bandwidth app that relies heavily on the net to run). Spectrum CSR tells me no issues, so I switched out the modem for one of their house modems, and when I went to the auth page it tells me there is a system outage in the area (remember the csr told me no problems ROFL?).

So I installed the new modem and still had the exact same problem, and after a day or two it started working again, I switched out for my store bought modem, and its still working.

Conclusion: It was Spectrum having problems, or the Servers having problems, almost impossible to tell for sure unfortunately…

For a few days, I notice that the trees are drawn a short distance from where I fly. I tried various settings with no result (scale, detail level, textures, shadows, etc.).
I only fly in VR. From what my fit is not ultra, but it always worked well.
Could it be a bandwidth problem?

It could be, could be you isp throttling the connection during the busy time, it could be the servers are having an issue, all week Ive been sporting 20-24 fps steady, on two different installs, today I cant get any better then 14. And while it still appears ā€˜smooth’ it also appears ā€˜slow’. I dont know. Im just counting the time till 12 is released with hopes that I can get a constant flight experience with that.

This is getting really old really fast. Ive made it a point not to change a single thing with the sim on either install as of late, so its not something Ive done on my end this time, and my net connection test to all the usual suspects come back the same as they did when I was getting the higher frame rates.

Now tomorrow all things being what they have been, I expect my frame rates to be fine again as they always seem to be the best around ā€˜football’ time on Sundays…
