I found a solution to the low FPS. I reset the cloud, and it started at the beginning. Maybe it was because all the server errors got corrupted. Now I am getting 55+.
How does one āreset the cloudā?
Was getting 60fps locked in Dlss/quality. Was getting 45fps in TAA in 2020.
Switch from live weather to clear skies.
Iāve had better luck today with performance, but right now the sim is so variable, especially with CPU frame-times that itās obvious something weird is going on. With the load now spread across all cores, the main thread is likely stuck waiting for some other threads to get work done, especially with DX12 which is a much lower level access regime to the CPU/GPU, assembler level kind of. How much that has to do with streaming I have no idea.
I mean today Iāve had periods of crummy fps, and then I was getting well into the high forties with the same settings. CPU frame times would be 12-13 milliseconds and then a few minutes later jump to high 20ās or even higher. Buggy code? Buggy servers? Dunno.
around 5-7 fps moreā¦
More in 2020? What did you refer to? Sorry, just got back in from dog walk, where were we?
Its really weird behavior for sure. When i fist dropped into VR 2 days ago, i was on a double āhalf fps lockā, which was so strange. So what i mean is, normally i lock half of 90hz (45). But i was getting a half lock of 45 (22-23). I changed nothing and it released to 45 in the next session, never seen that before. Something is very borked.
Gpu was howling too!
as i was told by fellow poster, i have become convinced that 2024 is using the gpu for āsomethingā other than rendering frames, and, this other something is going haywire and is totally clogging my gpu, hence iām seeing terrible fps compared to what i have in 2020ā¦ and alsoā¦ every now and then the whole thing becomes completely borked, my fps drop to 9 (even in the main menu) and the only thing that fixes it is exiting the game
Yeah was very inconsistent for me yesterday too, even in the most forgiving GA plane and surroundings
Yea I agree something weird is happening, flying around and in between NZMA NZHN Iāll be like at 55fps and suddenly itāll drop into the 30ās, then itāll come back after a bit, then another time same area itās completely fine.
What makes it weirder is fly around and out of photogrammetry cities like Tauranga, Auckland ect Iāve never experienced this there.
Iāve tried all settings doesnāt make a difference and sometimes it doesnāt happen at all, seems completely random.
Hey Folks!
What impact are you seeing in your RAM usage and GPU VRAM usage?
Since everything is streamed now, are you using all of your RAM?
I know Rolling Cache is typically stored on SSD, just trying to see what everyone is seeing so far.
Would having 64GB RAM have any benefit over 32GB RAM in the current state?
Thanks
Iāve got 64, highest Iāve seen it have allocated for me is just over 28gigs.
29gb for me
I bought 32g today now I have 64. I thought it was the problem of CTD but finally was my VR setup who was too high for my 12700, 3080ti.
I cant wait someone will make a tutorial for VR on youtube could be helpful.
The only honest tutorial would be ābuy a 5090ā lol, unless you want to play in potato mode. Lost 30-40% performance on my 4090,meaning I canāt get a stable 45fps at any settings that actually make it look good (vs 2020). And this is in GA with lots of graphics option turned off completely, most others on low or medium.
32.1Gb max for mine so totally worth getting 64GB
what do you mean with āreset the cloudā? and how to do it?
Further testing this afternoon after the small patch announced by the devs.
I was once again getting better performance today in rural Australia, yet to be tested in denser PG areas and live weather. I noticed CPU frame times were lower than yesterday and FPS had improved. Yesterday I was running at lower than native resolution of my Pimax Crystal and using DLSS Performance, with those settings I was now getting high 50s.
So I switched back to native resolution on the Crystal and DLSS Quality and the performance was actually OK. I am using eye tracking dynamic foveated rendering via the Toolkit set to Quality (which gives about a 6-8fps boost) Also, running Dev mode in the sim no longer tanked my performance.
Result so far in this limited scenario was that I had the sharpness back again (very noticeably) and my fps was much better than yesterday, it was anywhere from 44 to 48fps. See screenshot below. CPU and GPU frame times are reasonable. Early days yet and will have to test in more demanding scenarios, but it gives hope that things will improve.
Win 10, 5800x3D, 4090, 32GB ram, latest drivers and DLSS. Performance mode via nVidia control panel, prerendered frames in VR +2 also. Game mode on, HAGS on, performance mode in Win settings.
Agree, something weird. When I run the Sim for the first time good frame rates both in 2D and VR, and when I exit VR to 2Dā¦ the whole thing drops to 5-10fps - even in 2D, and then if I shut WMR which I use for my Reverb G2, frame rate in 2D jumps to 50-60 fps - but with no sound???. So WMR is using the GPU for some thing after I exit VR. To get back reasonable rates again, I need to restart the Sim. Strange.
