I don’t see any posts on this issue in their forums. I will post too. I’m not having them shrug it off.

Are you having problems with missing jetways all using Xbox ?

  • The scenery worked perfectly fine until SU5, which introduced bugs with jetways.

  • We made a workaround fix the DAY SU5 came out, which eased the problem on PC, but still some jetways randomly disappeared because it was an SU5 bug so, there wasn’t anything we could do to fix it entirely in SU5. Even default jetways at default airports sometimes disappeared, depending where you started your flight.

  • The bug HAS been fixed with SU6 so, right now, EACH and EVERY FSDT scenery has fully working custom jetways, confirming the bug has always been in the sim all along, and there wasn’t any problem with the sceneries to begin with.

However, all of this is ON PC and yes, I can see missing Jetways on Xbox now, on the same scenery that works fine on PC.

Maybe it’s not entirely clear how we are supposed to “test” a product on Xbox and, the reality is, we simply can’t.

We had a Beta period for SU6 on PC, in which we confirmed the Jetway bug WAS fixed on PC without any need to do any changes to the sceneries, but there was no Beta for Xbox so, we had to wait for SU6 public release first, then download our sceneries from the Marketplace like everybody else.

The general rule is that, if something works on PC, it should work on Xbox too but, apparently, this is not really the case. The Scenery Editor in the SDK has only ONE setting to “simulate” a specific Xbox behavior related to LOD and, of course, Jetways at LSZH (and other sceneries) shows perfectly fine both using the default LOD behavior AND the Xbox LOD behavior. So, using all the tools we have in the SDK, nothing indicates jetways shouldn’t work on Xbox or should be made any differently than on PC.

This leaves with the following explanations:

  1. The jetway bug has been fixed in the PC version of SU6, but not in the Xbox version.

  2. There’s something different related to jetways to take care of that is specific to Xbox and cannot be checked in advance with the PC SDK, even in Xbox mode, which hasn’t been documented. The release notes for the SDK promised to include a new Jetway sample and in fact, the default jetways has been updated, but the 3DS Max source file for the default Jetway disappeared from the SDK, we don’t know if this was an omission, and we surely reported it to Asobo. Other than that, nowhere in the SDK there’s any indication that something different should be made to have Jetways working on the Xbox, other than the general suggestions of using at least 3 LOD levels, which we obviously do.

  3. Microsoft might have placed the wrong version on the Marketplace for Xbox. We don’t know if this is possible, since we only send a single file containing the package, which of course works perfecty fine on PC. However, since there’s no way to access files on Xbox (not even using Xbox Dev Mode, which I have but doesn’t work for commercial games), we don’t have any way to check if the files released on the Marketplace are the same we submitted. Yes, there’s the version number but, that alone won’t tell for sure if every file is correct.

So, the only solution I see is asking Asobo for help, sending them the sceneries to test so they might figure out what the problem is because, assuming the Marketplace version IS correct, it seems the general rule that “if a scenery works on PC, it will work on Xbox”, doesn’t seem to work here.

And, until the Public released of SU6 for Xbox, there was no way for us to even KNOW, since we don’t have any way to test antyhing on Xbox, there was no Xbox beta, and everything works perfectly fine on PC right now and all along during SU6 Beta.

Sorry but this is simply not true - I was participating Beta Tests (Series S) and of course I reported several times there issues with the Add-on LSZH and only with that one - all other 3rd Party Airports I own on Xbox do not have missing Jetway so far.

That maybe a wrong Version of your Add-on is at marketplace sounds quite plausible to me in fact we know already that the publishing of new content eighter updates takes Ages from MS :frowning:

I really want to thank you very much for your clear words - so I now know whom to ask for help - but I think personally they will not take much care about is as in nearly one month LSZH form Gaya will be part of the GOTY Version

Fact you were lucky to be selected for the Xbox Beta, doesn’t mean what I said it’s “not true”, because there were two Beta groups:

  • One for users, who were selected on a first-come first-served basis.
  • One for developers, who are automatically invited regardless how many spots were left for users.

We were in the Beta for developers, and that Beta was PC only so, as I’ve said, since the problem was clearly fixed with SU6 on PC, we could only rely on previous statements from Asobo saying “if something works on PC, it will on Xbox too”, and we DID our due diligence testing the scenery even using the “Xbox LOD selection” with the SDK, and it still shows jetways just fine so, there was no way we could possibly know in advance of any problems.

The interesting thing is, Jetways at our KORD works fine on Xbox too. The only difference with the other sceneries is they have 5 LOD levels instead of 3. So, even if the SDK doesn’t say anything about it ( it says as long you have 3+ LODs, you should be fine ), maybe jetways are handled differently on Xbox and require 5 LOD levels.

If this is the case, the solution would be quite simple but, there’s no way for us to test it so, we’ll need help from either Microsoft or Asobo, because they are the only ones with the ability to test something on Xbox without having to go through the Marketplace.

Thanks for your feedback :slight_smile: it is highly appreciated. I didn’t know that there two different groups so I am sorry for the statement “not true” I thought you mean in general there was no beta for xbox - clearly misunderstood.

So for now I know what’s up basically I can also do nothing just hoping that Asobo and/or MS is doing something,…

Since 7 days (28.Oct. 21) the LSZH addon does not show up anymore, does not work, only the original
MS Airport is availalble. After emailing to the developer no answer received on my request.
Anyone with the same problem?

I took off there 2 days ago and everything worked perfetcly fine. Did you use the FSDT Live update recently? Maybe your version is outdated.

Tks Rawhide. I am not aware of an update. But i think i should mention that i am on the
XBOX Series S (my PC is too loud). I think this problem occoured after i removed myself from the XBOX insider program. I had to reinstall all World updates (they work fine) and also reinstalled the LSZH addon (3 times). But it wont work. Is somehow my account corrupted since i removed the insider program? Any idea? Thanks people

I received a detailed answer form the developer. It seems there were some users on PC who solved this LSZH problem caused by world updates by reinstalling the whole program. But since i am on XBOX i wait for the next update (GOTY) where LSZH should be improved by Asobo. If not i will try to reinstall all the 120GB and see what happens.

Nowhere I said, here or on my email reply to you, that any PC user ever solved the problem by reinstalling the whole program, at least in relationship with the Jetway problems at LSZH, or any other issues of the scenery.

Those who installed the Beta HAD to go through a very large mandatory update when SU6 came out, and they also had their Community folder cleared up, but this doesn’t have anything to do with LSZH, or anything else bought on the Marketplace, because such add-ons don’t use the Community folder at all.

The whole jetway missing problem was never a problem of the scenery itself, it was a bug introduced with SU5, which was the first version for Xbox as well. With SU5, almost each and every 3rd party airport had troubles with disappearing jetways. In some cases, they disappeared also on default airports.

This has been reported by us and other developers as soon as the Beta for SU5 started, but it wasn’t fixed until SU6 on PC, and it was fixed for 100% of users, and it was fixed without having to reinstall anything or change anything in the scenery. Yes, we released a patch for LSZH the day SU5 came out but, it didn’t solve much, it only lessened the problem, because it was a bug in SU5 and it has completely fixed with SU6, because only Asobo could fix that, being an SU5-specific bug.

Of course, all PC users got clear proof the scenery has always been perfectly fine right from the start, the moment SU6 came out, because jetways immediately reappeared at LSZH, and on many other sceneries which were affected by the same bug.

However, the problem still doesn’t seem to be fixed on XBOX. Asobo confirmed multiple times that, if something works on PC, it MUST work on XBOX as well and, as long as we respect the new “XBOX LOD rules”, which mandates to have at least 3 LOD levels for objects to prevent the risk of them being removed on Xbox, we should be fine. The added a “Xbox LOD simulation” to the SDK, so we can test how the scenery would look like on Xbox.

And of course, LSZH obviously works perfectly fine on PC ( we can’t test on Xbox ), even when the Xbox LOD simulation is enabled. Jetways always shows up, meaning the Xbox simulation on the PC SDK is not 100% reliable, most likely because it cannot anticipate possible bugs in the Xbox code. But that’s the only way we can test on Xbox.

I had a theory, because of the several sceneries we made, one have the jetways working normally on Xbox, and it’s Chicago O’Hare. And there, the only difference it’s that Jetways have 5 LOD levels instead of 3. The default Asobo Jetway used to have 3 LOD levels, now it has 5 so, MY theory is that Jetways are a bit of exception and, on Xbox only, they require 5 LOD levels, instead of the normal 3 the SDK is recommending to be sure objects won’t be removed automatically on Xbox. We don’t know if this is intentional they just forgot to document fact the jetways are behaving differently, or it’s just a bug.

So, we sent an update for LSZH to the Marketplace team, asking them “Could you please confirm Jetways works on Xbox too?”, because we don’t have ANY means to test on a REAL Xbox. Only the Marketplace testers can.

This was 18 days ago, when I first posted about this and, we finally got our answer in the meantime, it’s confirmed jetways works now. Well, the reply wasn’t specifically about jetways but, in general, the test report said there were “No LOD problems anywhere”.

So, the scenery update will be appear in the Marketplace, as soon it will clear up the released queue, which again might take a few weeks.

Update Version 1.3.0 released at Xbox Marketplace - could confirm Jetways are visible now and working on my side (Xbox Series S)
